For a player basically being given to us he's perfectly adequate as a floor improvement over our current scrubs. Im going to assume this isn't actually expected to be one of our big moves.
I mean he’s a league average bat. Career OPS+ of 105. Anything so we don’t have to keep running scrubs out there like Cooper Hummel. Willi Castro still makes the most sense to add IMO as he can play 2B and LF.
I like it. Veteran league average bat and solid defender who can play multiple positions. We need guys like this to shore up the line up.
No risk trade. Even if there’s no other pending position player move (which I doubt), worst case is Urias replaced Dubon as the 3B, which is replacing a guy who should hit 9th with a guy who is fine hitting 7th. Small but meaningful upgrade. Twine Palmer is an underrated prospect but this is a good trade.
Let's continue to rope em in Hope this move is the first in a string of em We are really threading the needle here
Twine Palmer was a 19th round pick... that was a 2-way player... looks like Greinke clone ... with Greinke-esque velocity of 2024. https://members.baseballfactory.com/player/twine/palmer/24d6bf534b904ec596d29e8f8dd09862
We just couldn't sign a higher contract player, we want to stay under this next luxury tax apron. He fits the bill perfectly. We got him for another year (last hurrah for Dubon this year? I'd say that's the case). We gave up nothing. This is an A+ sneaky great deal.
