Urias, 31, comes to Houston from the Orioles. In 77 games this year, he's slashing .248/.300/.388 with 8 home runs and 34 RBI. His younger brother, Luis, plays for the A's.

He's been a little better against lefties, hitting .278/.338/.403 in 104 plate appearances. Against right-handers, he's .237/.286/.382 in 186 PAs.

At the very least, he's an upgrade over Short, although that's really not saying much. Should bolster an awful bench.

Not an adequate replacement for Paredes.

Maybe just an insurance move and probably better than having Whitcomb or Hummel out there

This leads me to believe Paredes is done for the year.. or at least next 2+ months. Sucks cause Paredes was having a hell of a year.

    We need LH hitter bad.

The only way this trade makes sense to me is if Houston is trading Dubon. Urias is a very similar player to Dubon. Weak bat, good range and glove, average arm. Houston gave up fair value (Palmer). It will be a huge disappointment if this is the only bat they add to the infield.

Urias has hit RHP better than Dubon in his career, so they might make a platoon that generates league average offense at 2B.

Well welcome to Houston I guess. Sounds like he has a decent glove. Hopefully a bigger splash tomorrow(or tonight).
Also looking at his contract, he has 1 more year of arbitration before becoming a free agent.

Palmer was the Astros' 19th-round pick last year out of Connors State College, a junior college in Oklahoma.

Palmer was 2-0 with a 2.13 ERA in 13 appearances (8 starts; 42.1 IP total) for Fayetteville this season. He allowed 14 runs (10 earned) on 26 hits, walked 22, and struck out 44. He also missed six weeks in May and June, although he never went on the IL.
