It's never too soon to worry...because our team has no source of fire or energy. I'll stop worrying about the team (because we won't win every game) once I see some damn fire and passion on this team.
I don't think I'll EVER stop worrying about the team... I'm hopeless! If we don't win by a blowout, I ain't happy!
It's too soon to worry, but I think we can all agree that they look absolutely horrible and lost out on the court right now. Because they have some unrealistic expectations, people are gonna be pissed if the Rox are not more than a .500 team.
Rockets are going to A! okay. Contrary to popular belief that just because we have T-mac that we're going to dominate from day 1 is ludicrous. 3/5 of our starting line-up is different compared to last year. Id rather see us struggle right now because it is expected and still very early. Not only injuries but chemistry struggles are always better early than later.
Comon guys the season just started! Don't you guy's think we should give these guys a little break they been traveling all over for the past month. There are 7-8 new players on this team. Give them a little time to gel. I hate it when people start bashing new players that haven't played in a complex system like JVG before. YAO will get his legs and TMAC’s shot is already starting to fall. After 15-20 games into the season if nothing has changed then start bashing. Also playing the Champs to start the season and then having to travel to Canada for a back to back and the Raptors opener.
I'd agree. Records aside, since if the Rockets don't make the playoffs and get further this season, then it's obviously a failure, just taking a stepback and looking at the team, you get a very Astros feel about them - big offseason acquisitions, but no fire, especially from the man in charge (JVG). From a purely player standpoint, I'm really really really not feeling the more minutes to Mo Taylor than Juwan Howard expirement. I've been on the JVG bandwagon up till now, but am not liking his moves, play calling or plays for that matter this year so far. I think it's fair to keep him on watch.
I make knee jerk reactions (I admit my guilt) for the following reasons. 1. I am a fan, I love the Rockets, it hurts when they play bad. 2. I want them to win so bad, I immediately over analyze. 3. Frustration takes a while to get over after watching them look inept. 4. As they flounder my exectations come crashing down and I wonder how in the world can this be happening? 5. There is a sense in the heart of every fan that we are at the mercy of decisions we cannot control, decisions that given time will pierce us with defeat or right itself and bring the satisfaction of victory. In other words we are watching them and looking for them to win, because their win is our win, their loss becomes our loss. This is the experience of every true fan. Having waxed eloquent let me say that it is obvious that over the long haul of this season the ship can right itself and get on track. This team can gel and every player can lift their game and with in the current regime make the playoffs. A season is not made in 2 games. No doubt about it. We will play better in time. (I am convinced of that) But a terrible season can look like a good season at this point and visa versa. OK - It's early. No need to panic at this time. But I am still going to have my tantrums and knee jerk reactions when Yao plays poor, TMac is not in the flow of the offense and the rest of the team can't pick up the slack. Until the change comes we are going to lose a high % of the games we play. I am a passionate fan and for me the must win... is the next game. By the way I wouldn't be as worried if we had better players surrounding Yao and TMac. I do think we are being exposed some.
Just start a poll asking "Can I start a new thread is about blabla...." Wait for 2 days, if u got more than 51% said go ahead, then start a new thread. Guide for new posters.
Haha poor lil fella' I feel your pain and please post away, Im sure UpRising really didnt mean to put it so blunt but it does get frustrating at times to read the same thing over and over again in the forum. Just keep a heads up before starting a new thread thats allready in the forum millions of times allready. Ok with that said it is wayyyyy to early to jump the gun on our guys, give them to atleast allstar break, IMO.
We only have 80 games left! I mean, is it possible to recover from 0-2? Maybe we should rest the starters and sand bag to get a better pick. Seriously, what expectations did some people have, 82-0! Most teams take years to gel, these guys have only been together for a few months. To help quell the restless fans anxiety, try to break the season down to four 20 game parts: 1st 20 - Getting adjusted and familiar with the system and each other. Around 9 and 11 would be OK. 2nd 20 - Showing signs of their potential, accepting and understanding roles within the system. A record of 11 and 9 would be acceptable. 3rd 20 - Should start to really challenge the good teams every game and start putting the bad ones away easily. 12 and 8 would really be a good sign. 4th 20 - Hopefully, vast improvement from top to bottom with team chemistry becoming obvious. The main goal is to make the playoffs and make a good showing, gaining experience for what we all hope will be a championship run next year. Anything beyond these humble expectations would be gravy. Enjoy the team, they are going to be good and fun to watch as well. As a wise man once said " it is wayyyyy to early to jump the gun on our guys, give them to at least allstar break". Just give them the benifit of the doubt for now, allow them to prove themselves.
There are also diehard fans, who watch the games, TIVO the games, get ticked at the way things are going, but don't worry because they understand that it is the second game of an 82 game season. A marathon, not a sprint.
"Everybody says it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. When I've watched the marathons, they sprint for 26 miles. That's what the good NBA teams do. They sprint the entire marathon. Those guys from Kenya, they ain't trotting. They're flying." -- Jeff Van Gundy
When you start losing games you are supposed to win it is a problem. All I'm saying is win the games you should win and we'll be in perfect position come playoff time. Once the ball is thrown up at midcourt you are fighting til the very end so don't give me that crap about it being a marathon IT IS A SPRINT TO THE FINISH! Win now because we are a TMac back injury away from being a basement team.
When people say (Rashmon) that it's "not a marathon" they are tying to quell the knee-jerk reactions from some BBS fans here, i.e. the sky is falling. What JVG was trying to say that this team needs to be good ALL THE TIME; not take any games off and work hard always. That's what he's trying to accomplish.
That's fine if you want to call it a marathon but I look at it this way...TMac misses on average 13 games a year due to injury. He has never played a full season. Unless Ming has a hell of a game we can chalk those 13 into the loss column. WIN NOW!
