Do we need a Singleton and Guillorme appreciation thread?

We also crashed and burned into the all-star break.

Doesn’t Singleton already have 3 of those.

I do not want Correa for the same reasons we let him go in the first place. He is too expensive for his likely production and he is too prone to missing time due to injury. Injuries are something the Astros do not need more of.

    I understand this stance.

    I have a different view.

I think this is an opportunity to bring a HOF level talent and fan favorite back to Houston years before it normally would be possible when he hit his mid-30s based on Jim Crane's modus operandi.

Even after a poor 2023 and 2025, and injury riddled 2024, he is averaging 122 games/517 PAs and 2.8 bWAR/3.2 fWAR per season as a Twin.

This really feels like his floor.

So, Minnesota would need to pay about $11M to get the AAV under $28M or $10M/bWAR

Basically, any improvement Carlos makes would count as surplus value. And off the field benefits are 100% bonus.

Only 3+ year commitment unless he's good, then additional years at a bargain rate.

This is a chance to get a superstar talent that rarely happens under Jim Crane's philosophy.

    This is a great gamble

He got hit in the face by the SS on an infield grounder in a AAA rehab game.

The one thing about correa moving to third . . . you'd think he'd kill the jump throw part of his game and maybe save his back for more of his career.

Playing 3B instead of SS would absolutely save wear and tear on Correa's body.

He is a very large man. Extremely large for a SS

See: Cal Ripken Jr, Alex Rodriguez and others.

It is a huge factor in whether the injury risk is worth the gamble.

But, either he or Paredes would need to move around more or play 2b the next 2 years.

He’s playing more than the average Astro nowadays…. they just need actual MLB players somewhere/somehow. If theres any benefit with leadership/familiarity/experience, so be it.

I’d still take him in playoff AB’s over the field.

Count me in on Carlos Correa if the twins pay a decent amount of salary.
This team and fan base could really use a pick me up shot in the arm.
