This kid is poor man's Reddick. Being #3 pick makes our fans hype about this kid. But l see his future as bench shooter in Euroleague and European leagues.. He does not have physical tools to be NBA player..
It's interesting to speculate how much PT Castle could earn last season on the Rockets. It would depend for a large part how well he could execute on the defensive end. He would probably be better than Reed on defense but would still make a lot of mistakes. His offense would show pretty much nothing and CF would be on Ime's head if he continued to play him.
He didnt do well in his 2 starts in SL. I think Reed will be fine as FVV's backup but lets not pretend he was killing it last year and the only reason he didnt perform well was Ime was blocking him.
Yes. Posters here love to rewrite history just focus on the few good games Reed had and pretend he will be ROY on another team just based on that. Like what about all the bad games he has had where he didnt do anything for 10 mins? Or was missing majority of the shots he took? Everything he did bad doesnt count we should only look at the games he popped off lol thats just dumb AF. I have high hopes for Reed but the blaming everyone but him for his bad play has got to stop.
Who really cares about the summer league? He played well in one game and he wasn’t great in the other game. He was the only player on our team that was any sort of NBA caliber and the other teams knew this. Plus, no one around him was doing him any favors. He needs to play about 20 minutes a game for 20 or 30 games. I expect after that he will settle in fine.
I get this. I will say Reed has limitations. He was only a rookie last season (i.e., rookies tend to be bad, especially smaller guys). I expect he will be able to shoot. I expect he will play better with better players (i.e., I don't think he's good enough to be the man, and his game is somewhat dependent on others). Granted, I'm a firm believer of Falkland's Law. I'm not going to be too down on a young player until it gets closer to the point a decision has to be made on them (or he's bad and plays more than he should on a team trying to win). In Reed's case, he doesn't play when he's playing bad. It looks like he's being treated like he's done better in practices than he has in the 229 minutes he's played (e.g., Rockets haven't gotten Reed insurance). If Reed is still inefficient sometime in his third season as it gets closer to the Rockets having to decide on the extension and who will start PG after FVV's contract is done, I'll be much more critical.
I think it's pretty clear that if our backup PG, who just turned 21 a month ago who has a whole 654 minutes of NBA experience, isn't first team All NBA this season, we're doomed.
If Reed has 2 average performances in SL it means he’s gonna be a career backup at best. If Reed plays great in 2 NBA starts - including one against the current champions - then it doesn’t count and means he’s gonna be a career backup at best. This board in a nutshell.
using his two meh SL games against him while trashing his excellent performance during more substantial nba starts against great teams (“few good games”) is definitely a choice.
I’ll take Hornacek in a second. That dude was tough, smart and played hard all the time. He was a winner. If Reed can become Jeff Hornacek then Stone hit a homer.
Reed has limitations but I’d bet money he’s gonna surprise some doubters next yr. He’s gonna hit mid and long range shots at a high clip and he’s gonna be one of the league leaders in forced turnovers per minutes played. Those are two very impactful skills. And I do think he’ll get better as an on-ball player over time.
I hope so. He is very streaky though, very feast or famine on his shot. Reminds me of JG in a very bad way.
