Whitmore didnt want to be here and sit on the bench. He didnt want to be the insurance.

If KD gets injured then FVV, Sengun and Amen need to step up offensively. I expect Tari will be the starter and DFS will get more PT.

 

Who exactly did you think you were getting on a 2way contract who can immediately come in and produce?

To be fair, that remains to be seen with Whitmore. Dude can definitely score - but pass and defend, not so much....
We might have other guys on the roster who can score too...

 

With Whitmore passing and scoring, the rest of the team can compensate for the defense. What you need is a SG who has flashes of brilliance, someone who can take over the game every so often, essentially Whitmore—who we traded for nothing.

 

I'm not expecting them to completely fill in for KD. I am expecting that they can provide a scoring flow that makes the drop off less painful.

 

I'm glad Stone has been working to find some better talent for the stay ready squad. We invested a few years in some guys that didn't really improve. It was time to move on.

 

Yeah it seems like these last few additions are really well thought out in good value.

I get what you are saying but at the same time with the roster stacked the way it is a high quality player wouldnt wanna be on the team as injury insurance. At the wings we have Amen, KD, Tari and DFS so 3-4 guys at the spot not even counting Josh Okogie and the stay ready crew.

If you are a guy who can semi fill in for KD like Cam why would you happy just sitting and not playing until KD gets injured? Of course Cam was extremely immature but if I know I can be a 20 pt.scorer I also wouldnt be happy watching or playing just 5-10 mins a night.

I just think very few teams can afford to lose their star esp during playoffs. Look at what happened to.boston minus Tatum and I bet if sga had gotten hurt okc, even with their depth, would not have won it all. Hell the pacers might have won if hali doesn't go down

No. A 6'6" backup SG is not the gap. The Rockets need a backup PG that can reliably hit shots. The Rockets can survive a KD injury. Amen, Jabari, Tari can all fill in. Cam would have never gotten off the bench, again. Let it go.

The scary situation is if FVV gets hurts for a long stretch (or if he is forced to play >40mpg). They need Reed to step up but he hasn't shown it ...yet.
