True that I may be getting a bit caught too up in the traditional lineup. Actually a huge fan of anything not “small ball”. Question remains if you think playing Amen and Tari at shooting guard kills our outside shooting. Minus Durant, this team has no proven outside shooting (please don’t say DFS at 8 ppg) and that is what a shooting guard brings. Cam was our potential microwave “light it up” bulk scoring shooting guard and Amen/Tari will always struggle from distance. My hope is that we sign a Bradley Beal type if/when he gets cut.

Only 1 person on earth thinks he was worth a 1st round pick. He resides on the BBS.

The truth is cam fell to pick 20 in his own draft and hasn't set the world on fire to improve his stock

This is a good deal of the rockets . They get to build on a player friendly reputation

    2 people.

Dude turned 21 two weeks ago. He has first round talent all day long. You have to remember how many late firsts flame out. No way he wasn't worth that at his age. But you're worth what someone is willing to pay, so if that report is true it is what is!

I had a dream he went off for 20 against us and dunked on Sengun three times, but when I checked the box score he had 8 turnovers and 6 fouls.

I have family who plays in the NBA, while I have zero inside info because we don't talk often, I can tell you that it's a small fraternity and Cam's problems with HTown were likely no secret in League circles. This really hurt the Rockets leverage in any deal for Cam. Why would anyone overpay when they knew that both sides wanted out.

Look when teams know a player is asking out they are not going to offer fair market especially for a guy that seems to have potential but isn't proven yet.

IMHO, the Rockets ****ED THIS UP big time.

They literally had him for 3 more years under control, at a position of need....and it is VERY telling to me that Ime couldn't find a way to play him or to give him a real opportunity, that he decided to PUNT on talent and hire ****ING ROLE players when this kid is 21, and a potential lead scorer.

This seems like it would be more prudent to DEVELOP a guy rather than settle for an end of the bench never will be player.....

Just screams poor asset management to me....and poor coaching if you can't reach a talented head strong player......it isn't about the COACH it is about the players.

I know a lot of folks are willing to go the easy way, and that may end of being the right decision, but IMHO, you don't trade Cam until at least the trade deadline this year.....at the earliest.

Yes, he wanted out. But: Jalen Green took 18.7% of our shots last year, and we just traded him away. We brought in KD, but at his age, we all expect to be managing his minutes and games played.

That left an opportunity for Whitmore to step in, play more games and minutes, and do more of the scoring. Even a guy who wanted out should have seen this as a reason to reconsider.

Why we couldn't make this work is beyond me. Maybe the attitude problem was just way more incorrigible than I thought.

I think the Rockets decided to work with Cam's reps and trade him now so he could go to camp and fully integrate with his new team, maximizing his chances for success. Sure, they could have kept him until February, but that would not have been good for Cam.

I'm sure Cam is pumped and motivated knowing he'll have a guaranteed spot in the Wizards' rotation.

Reminds me of this scene. That's when I first learned the word Incorrigible.

I think Cam's attitude was worse than many here realize and he was dug in. On a new team, he'll have every incentive to prove doubters wrong because he simply can't afford for the "attitude" narrative to follow him. I expect Cam to go out of his way to be on his best behavior and play the best he possibly can. That clearly wasn't going to happen on the Rockets.

I understand that, and I think that is cowardly and crap asset management - so you give away a guy that has MASSIVE potential for 2 picks that will never play in the league more than likely.

WHY? He was UNDER contract for 3 more years....why not be a TRUE GM and just tell IME to work with him, find out if when he matures he can harness that talent.

This feels like Jermaine O'neal, or Drazen Petrovich, or Dale Ellis or Steve Nash....where teams gave up on them and they became stars elswhere when a little patience and a little coaching could have helped them become all that they could be....and as a Rocket.

There is literally ZERO reason from an organizational asset management position to trade him for garbage like 2 2nd round picks....hold onto him, play him as the backup SF/SG and see if he develops and you can flip him for more, or keep him under his rookie contract.

SHOW SOME ****ING BALLS - 3 years a lot can happen....you don't need to bow down to pressure so easily....very weird.....and if he blows up, which is more than likely, we will be watching a star play somewhere else instead of here, when we will need a primary scorer in 2 o 3 years anyway and NO ONE on this team has that potential skill but him (after KD leaves/retires)....no one.

Your venom towards the Rockets about Cam is endless, to the point of being beyond reason.

yeah but what if he sucks to be around and isn’t good for the team? Why prioritize Cam more than the team?

I don’t expect u to change your mind about Cam being the second coming. But curious if u are willing to consider a legit and valid argument that may challenge your viewpoint.
