I was just going to start a thread that could maybe expand all of our minds a little with tidbits of information that we might not know and might not want to know. It's the same basic concept as SportCenter's "Did You Know" piece at the end of their shows. Just follow mine and everybody elses with one of your one. ONE of your own. Did you know: Arkansas is the only state with at least two Division I level colleges (University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University) but does not have a Division I interstate collegiate rivalry in football?
Allright. Since I'm writing a paper for my Public Health class, here's some tidbits for you 5 million NEW cases of HIV were reported last year Gonorrhea means "flow of seed" The first accounts of Cholera predate Christ (if you believe he was ever here) Cholera can be found in the Gulf of Mexico. People who have Cystic Fibrosis are immune to Cholera. Christopher Columbus brought Syphilis back from the new world to the old world. People from the old world killed off 75% if the indigenous people of the Americas by the diseases they carried over.
That if you heard or learned that Pluto was the furthest planet from the Sun between 1979 and 1999, you heard or learned wrong. Neptune was actually the furthest planet from the sun during those 20 or so years. This will happen again in the early 2200's... so you can know for next time.
did you know... ...that i did my 2nd spy job in less than a week tonight? this time at stack's place to watch the rox game. good service, good chicken quesadilla's, bad outcome on the game. ...the rockets' whole defensive scheme on the perimeter is wrong as far giving the offensive player their off-hand if they plan on penetrating? what?... do they plan on yao blocking the shot or something? i wounldn't exactly call yao a defensive liability or anything... well... yes i would (but not because they've only lost two games this early in the season). they're inviting the opposing offense to 1. get yao in foul trouble by exposing his 2" vertical, 2. throw a floater over yao's outstretched arms... exposing his 2" vertical, 3. get maurice or howard in foul trouble as shown in the first two games, or 4. have the offensive player to penetrate and kick out to the open player behind the arc for a three OR a missed three, but another chance at the shot by another long rebound. argh! i'm upset. sorry. ...that i just posted in the wrong forum?
That, until I read this thread, it never occurred to me to lick my elbows. Apparently, to some of you, it did.
did you know that picture posting privileges were allowed in the hangout again? i sure in the hell didn't. thanks admins.
Actually I think I was the first to notice it was turned back on a couple weeks ago (just by chance).
