****ing Malone bear hug "screen" took Clyde completely out of the play. No wonder Stockton was so ****ing wide open
That's one of the most painful moments in Rockets history. I partly blame Barkley for not switching (or elbow Malone in the face).
that hurt me...coming after the Eddie Johnson shot in the game or 2 before....I still remember the entire bar going complete apesh1t when he hit that and running around with their arms up like EJ
Finally beating the Sonics but then losing to the Jazz was the ultimate irony. So painful I still hate to think about it. I blame Greg Ostertag, who for some reason had the game of his career in G6 and Matt Maloney, who after being a master assassin against the Sonics went belly up against the Jazz.
The only other really heartbreaking moment i've had as a rockets fan was waking up at 6 am the morning of game 7 in 2018 to see if the rockets were going to be given a chance to win that game and seeing silver was sending foster to drop the hammer. To this day his game 7 performance is maybe the best i've ever seen, up there with game 5 2016 finals lebron.
Well, I kind of expected to lose Game 7. So it wasn't as shocking as losing to the Jazz, although it's still infuriating. Worst officiating in history has to be Game 6 Lakers-Kings 2002.
The game itself didn’t bother me because as far as i was concerned it ended at 6 am, so i had a full day to process the loss before tipoff basically. It was like watching a game that happened earlier and someone spoiled the result.
Clearly the Biggest what if in NBA / Rockets History is what if the Rockets would have took the Blazers up on their trade proposal to trade their pick & Clyde Drexler for Ralph Sampson. The Rockets would have drafted Hakeem & then Jordan and had a sophomore Clyde Drexler
It’s amazing how historically bad the Blazers draft their top picks and it was mostly for some center that looked like an obvious bust to everybody but their GM
Somewhere in an alternate timeline there was a star studded NBA Finals of Hakeem, Clyde, Barkley vs. the bulls
Rockets had a offer from the Blazers 1984 Draft #2 Pick (Michael Jordan) and Clyde Drexler for Ralph Sampson. Rockets said No. 1992 MLB Draft Astros Scout Hal Newhouser Hall of Fame Pitcher. Astros had the #1 Pick. Hal Newhouser wanted Derek Jeter from High School Kalamazoo, Michigan. Astros GM Bill Wood said No take College Phil Nevin. Rockets Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler (Younger) and Astros Derek Jeter would've had more Championships in Houston.
