To get away from the eyes of those pesky doctors? What do they know with all of their fancy pantsy degrees!
DFA...if he clears waivers...SF is on the hook for all his money ...why wouldn't you want to talk to him if he was interested? Why would anyone trade anything for him?
its happening! Somebody go put money in the TouchTunes digi-jukebox to queue up Darth Vader’s Imperial theme… CourierNew remembers.
It’s time to start taking Brandon Walter seriously as a long term MoR (or better) SP. 46 ip over 8 starts with a 2.86 xFIP and a 47:3 k:bb ratio is no joke. At this point I am comfortable with the idea of him starting a playoff game.
Completely agree. We need to remember that he was the Red Sox #8 prospect as recently as 2023. He was given a 50 overall FV with a 60 for his slider and conttol. Thats better than Arrighetti was. He is more than the usual guys the Astros pull out of a hat. He has a much higher floor AND ceiling. Still a bit early, but this may end up being another Dana Brown move we marvel at in a few years. I'm sold on him being a top 4 starter for the Astros for 6 more years regardless of who else is available.
A great disappointment. Some flashes we keep hoping will be the pivot to a more productive season, but he just returns to what seems like a persistent decline. Maybe he'll be better when Alvarez, Peña, and whoever they acquire are in the lineup and take the weight off his shoulders, but they needed him to step up with all the injuries and he hasn't done it.
I was going to post something earlier today (hadn't seen this) that hopefully him going lower in the order would help him. Was going to point out that during most of the Phil-Cubs-Dodgers series he was batting 6th and did better.
