All games are broadcast on Space City Network unless otherwise noted. 7-18 Brandon Walter (L) vs. Luis Castillo (R) 9:10 7-19 Lance McCullers Jr. (R) vs. Logan Evans (R) 8:40 7-20 Framber Valdez (L) vs. TBD 3:10
Why in the world are they starting off this series with Walter and McCullers when Framber and Brown are rested?
Castillo has a 2.29 ERA at home with a WHIP under 1 Game two matchup is dumbfounding for as big of a series as this is
Okay cool I realize he is a good pitcher but he's still not a better pitcher than Gilbert or Woo. My point was they are doing the same thing we are in not starting both of their two best pitchers. I expected to see Castillo, Gilbert, and Woo.
If you pitched Lance in G1, assuming a 5-man rotation, he'd be in-line to start the road game at Arizona versus making his 2nd start at home (vs. A's). His home/road splits are pretty dramatic this year, wondering what the brain trust's rationale was there?
Lance has historically been much better at home than on the road. I'm sure they view his splits so far as simply small sample size luck that will even out.
Let's hope...either that or have Lance pitch with VR glasses and mock it up like MMP for old times sake?
I used to joke like that about Luke Gregerson for a year or 2, who could be lights-out in the 8th but seemed to make the 9th a struggle when asked to close (could have been the other way around?) "Just change all the stadium clocks and scoreboards around the 7th inning"
Maybe it's the hangover from the last 2 series, but I don't feel great about this series especially without Framber and Hunter going 1-2, but I get they need more rest. Will the bats come alive and can we keep our SP in through 6 innings? LLW and hope I am wrong
Gilbert since coming back from the injury, 6 starts, has an ERA approaching 5. I have nothing personal against him, but I do hope he continues to pitch to that level
