I think the Hakeem peeps may not realize how blessed we were to have our team be led by such a humble and wonderful human. For me it was never just about the Rockets winning. It was about Dream getting his due. Both teams were special. Hakeem was the wisdom, though, the temperance. Maxwell was able to exist because Hakeem's spirit was the team.

I will also add this. I was an Oilers guy. Warren Moon, run and shoot, Gary Brown, Webster Slaughter. All of them. When the Oilers left I tried to be a fan of Tennesse but never could. I tried the Texans but never could. I felt betrayed. I follow the NFL from a distance now. Nothing can replace those memories of pulling for the Oilers from the times in the dirt. Nothing can forgive the NFL for stealing that Bills game from us.

I, for one, am happy to be able to really root for Amen and Sengun. Tari is lovable. Bari and Reed are guys I'm hoping will figure it out. These are honestly probably the first rockets I've really liked since Yao. I can tell they'll give us everything they've got.

The Thunder run a background check and scout players for how good of human beings they are though.

It's always more fun rooting for good guys than rooting for a-holes.

It's probably way more important that the guys on the team like each other. At least for the most part.

We saw what happened when Chuck's lazy habits grated against Pippen.

Some of my favorite years as a Rockets fan where the Luis Scola and Chuck Hayes years. Even when we were scratching to make the playoffs as an 8th seed I couldn't get enough.

Welp, Barkley brought me here because I liked him more than I liked the Suns (We didn't have a team in OKC at the time). ...and I never left... So, for me, I suppose it mattered in the beginning, but now, not so much. I generally find a way to like the players on the team, although some have made it difficult (ehem KPJ).

Yeah, the '08-'09 team made me most proud as a Rockets fan since the championship years. That team took the Lakers to 7 games even after Yao went down.

A lot of the bands I like feature members who I'd probably dislike or find annoying if I knew them better. So I just don't bother looking up the personal details, viewpoints, or other information about those musicians outside of the actual music they produce.

I view my Rockets the same way. I'm sure I'd love some of the players if I knew them better, and other players I'd either be annoyed with or maybe even think they're morons or a-holes. So I just don't bother reading much about these players outside of their on-court performance.

Michael Jordan, Mr GOAT, by almost all accounts is a jerk. Kobe Bryant treated a lot of his teammates like dirty peasants he didn't want to talk to. But they got amazing results within the confines of the NBA basketball court.

It's not important. I don't expect players to be role models or even good people. Look at how GS fans root for Draymond despite his dirty antics. Pat Bev was very similar in mindset and intensity and I rooted for him no problem.

The only exception is for players I don't think belong in the league at all. Draymond is at that line. Miles Bridges is someone I would not want on my team.

It definitely makes a difference to me. Having brooks on the team sapped a lot of the enjoyment of the turnaround because i just couldn’t stand him. If draymond or kerr were ever rockets i would pause my fandom and not watch or root for the team. Looking forward to this season so much more now that brooks is gone.

I couldn't stand Ron Artest but when he was a Rocket, loved him for that year....same for Pippen.

    Just win baby.

I view fandom as entertainment not friendship. What I really care about are players that give EVERYTHING they have to win. I want to witness inhuman behaviors happening for the common goal of the win. I want to see years of commitment, skill and athleticism blended together in a single moment for the entire game. I want to learn from the experience because our team was smarter than the other team, never gave the other team a chance to win. I want to leave the stadium with the thought that was the best WE could have done. Mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally exhausted from effort. Win or lose.

Painted nails don’t care. Rodman vs Green. Rodman would do anything and everything all game to win any and every game he ever played in. VS Green who would do something athletic that only a few people in the world could do then get beat down the court making it all meaningless then pout about the injustice of all.

That said I’m drawn to players that volunteer at charity events more so than night clubs.

I stayed with the Titans. I blamed mayor Lanier for letting the Oilers go.

The Music City Miracle was dedicated to the city of Houston. I used to have to hear crap all the time no matter where in the world I went when people found out I’m an Oiler fan. It was a constant “35-3?!” “Houston we have a problem“

That all changed with “Homerun Throwback”. It was so fitting that Buffalo’s coach was Bum’s son. Wounds healed that day. The world was good again. As far as Bud was concerned, he became more enjoyable in his later life. Here he is greeting Bills fans.

Bebe was out of bounds and that one ball held in the air was stripped. There were so many terrible calls.
