In the NBA, currently, only two players have a no-trade clause in their contracts: LeBron James and Bradley Beal. This clause allows them to veto any trade the team attempts to make involving them.

Now, only Lebron James is the only player with a no trade clause in the NBA.

It was inevitable Beal would give up a few million to leave.

Clips had a really solid off season. West is going to be a blood bath

$20m of dead money for 5 years is hilarious and great for our future Suns picks.

Why didn’t they just keep him as bench commander instead of having all that dead money if they are trying to compete? All the news I heard from the suns is he loves the city and wanted to stay?

Clippers look pretty good and pretty damn deep

    Harden/Dunn
    Beal/Bogdan
    Kawhi/DJJr
    Collins/Batum
    Zubac/Lopez

this is why all that “stay the course” and don’t make any type of move to significantly improve this team was ridiculous to me…if we didn’t get KD, we would’ve just fallen further behind in the West

I wanted Beal on the Rockets. Nice signing for Clips but they’re still 1st round fodder with playoff Frauden.

It's a great team on paper, but it's going to take a LOT of luck for that team to keep healthy enough to be serious.

The Clips are so old that if they acted their age, they'd be dead.

great article in the Washington Post about how Beal's contract was such a mistake

    link will work for everyone

Bradley Beal’s contract will soon be gone. But it won’t be forgotten.
As Beal works toward a buyout with the Suns, it’s worth looking back at the deal he signed with the Wizards to help ensure such an error never happens again.

The Suns are escaping notice on this one big time! As bad as it seems for them, it is worse.

They traded Nurkic and a 1st to acquire Martin last year. Then had to waive Martin's NG salary so they could get close enough to the apron to stretch Beal (if Beal agreed to slightly less salary in the buyout, which he has)

Then to replace Nurkic and have a big man, they traded 2 first rounders to get Mark Williams.

Charlotte has officially skinned PHX - 3 firsts out of them. All so PHX could replace a big man and have the privilege of waiving Beal (and don't remind yourself how many 1sts they paid to acquire him...)

Essentially 7 firsts and 5 seconds (plus players) involved for the privilege of waiving Beal after 2 years. Ouch.
And the (somewhat expensive) young guy they replaced him with can't even shoot....

So was stretching Dame Lillard for the Bucks and basically paying Myles Turner double his salary.

Lord - Every player should have Beal's agent
IF he goes back to a 20 - 5 - 5 player this year . . he will opt out and get a bigger contract
and I see no reason he can't

    VS

    VanVleet / Sheppard
    Durant / Holiday
    Thompson / Eason
    Smith Jr. / Finney-Smith
    Sengun / Adams / Capela

I think we can handle them.

Clippers backcourt is going to be hilarious on defense. Dunn is a good defender but he can only do so much.

They had one of the best defenses in the league last year and Norm is not considered a “good” defender. The drop off from Norm to Beal on the defensive end will be minimal. JVG has them playing great team defense plus they got super athletic with Collin’s at the 4. They will be fine and a top 4-5 team.

Right, when people say run it back it seems like they believe we'll get better just from internal growth while every other team stays the same or gets worse.

Looking forwards to the mental gymnastics the Locked on Suns crew will do on their next episode they seem like good dudes so you kinda feel sorry for them but in the end their loss is our gain.

The KD move was the right move.... The people who were/are screaming chicken little about it really don't know basketball so who cares what they think? ;-)

The west is still the Thunder's to lose but I think Denver & Houston will make compelling cases to challenge the throne. I still think the LAC are in 4th place in the west but if Kawhi can stay healthy (riiight) they could disrupt the applecart potentially. I would certainly take them over the Lakers, Warriors, Mavericks, Spurs, and Grizz (for 2025-26 outlook only). The rest of the west will be seeing who gets the M1 Abrams, M4 Sherman, T-34, etc.
