Not too bad for a player who was really only playing in his first year. I'll bet you his strikeout rate fell as the year got later. He didn't appear to have bad strikeout issues in the college WS.

I may be overrating Frey. But I really like this pick and can see him moving quickly through the system.

What I really like is 4 out of the last 5 years he's either been on a state championship or college WS winning teams. 3 out of those 4 years he was the best player on his team. This is debatable on this years LSU team but he was at least in the top 2-3 players on the LSU team.

I really like that pick too. Super high ceiling player, underrated athlete, upward trajectory, appears to be a winner. Main yellow flag for me is injury history. So if he stays healthy I expect him to be a really good prospect.

I would be shocked if he ended up as good as Corey Julks. But at least he hits lefthanded

    Kyle Tucker Comparison

Austin Neyens and Kyle Tucker are 6'4, Bats Left Handed, Throws Right Handed.

Maybe shifts to LF or RF[/QUOTE]

Not really a fair comparison before Xavier even makes his pro debut.

Tucker was leaner, drafted with the hope he could stay in CF, and his hit tool was his calling card.

Neyens is much broader in the shoulders, already expected to move to a corner spot, and has more power than Kyle did as a draftee but also a lower hit tool.

I expect them to be much much different players.

Thats not to say I think Neyens will be a bust, or am unhappy with the pick.

Tucker's floor was pretty high. It seems Neyens has more natural power so who knows how this will turn out.

All 18 teams that didn't make the playoffs should be in the lottery. That's just stupid. Good Ole MLB.

Because Houston went over the CBT threshold last season, they were only awarded a 4th round pick when Bregman rejected the QO. Then when they signed Walker, again because they went over the CBT last season, they gave up their 2nd highest and 5th highest draft picks; that cost them their 2nd rounder AND the 4th rounder they got for Bregman. Essentially, signing Hader and Walker cost the Astros 3 2nd round picks and almost $200M in salary. See the 1st page of this thread:
