Not sure how to answer this without revealing the answer, but yes there is a way to tell which side the gas cap is on. I will say no more.

I'm giving my mom our old car and it's on the right side. I showed her how she could tell while she's in the car and she was like, "not every car has that." I told her to check hers, and sure enough it's there. I don't think I always knew this. Probably learned it 10-15 years ago.
