Thank goodness some of you know what’s going on with these players. I’m completely in the dark after round one. lol
Well thanks for that wet blanket in the middle of draft while we are dreaming on future players. U must be fun at parties.
Round 12, Pick 366: Elijah Farley, OF, Navarro High School (Geronimo, Texas) Farley was announced as being from Hillsboro High School, but that was an error. He's committed to Hill College, which is in Hillsboro, but he's actually from a small school outside of Seguin.
Nice! He’s already 19 so he might be just ready to go pro. Not that highly rated of a college prospect but in the top 50 OF in Texas and top 500 overall. Big kid, decent OF arm. https://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=533269 Justin Thomas is like a RH Quincy Hamilton, nothing flashy but productive and might have some untapped ceiling.
I'd never bet on a guy making it as quickly as people said with Ferrell, especially in the 3rd round, though he was very advanced and probably could have been aggressively pushed. Injuries completely derailed his career.
Maybe they trust their ability to develop random pitchers and/or attract decent UDFA. The pitchers taken so far: (5th) Nick Potter who has been a pure reliever for WSU after barely pitching 2 years at JUCO. (6th) Gabel Pentecost 42 starts in his NAIA career. (9th) Kellan Oakes 4 starts at Oregon state, mostly a reliever (13th) Aubrey Smith 2 starts at UNC Wilmington, mostly a reliever (15th) DJ Newman 15 career starts at Bowling Green, only 4 this season due to injury. It's not clear to me if hes a better pitcher or hitter. The system does need some hitting talent above the complexes, but I've been surprised by how hitter heavy this draft is.
I don’t know where they’re gonna find spots to play all these OF. Especially considering there’s quite a few in the DSL and FCL playing pretty well.
Round 18, Pick 546: Landon Arroyos, SS, Grayson High School (Loganville, Georgia) Georgia State commit from the school that produced the Meadows brothers
https://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=526729 Probably not an insurance pick because he’s not that highly rated.hopefully just a guy ready to go pro who is willing to sign for <$300k.
Round 19, Pick 576: Joey McLaughlin, Harrah High School (Harrah, Oklahoma) Lefty OF, Arkansas State commit. Didn't think Jim Stevenson was gonna get shut out.
