I believe that Brown will go after a college bat, if available. My guess is that it will go like this: OF Jace LaViolette (Texas A&M) SS Wehiwa Aloy (Arkansas) 3B Xavier Neyens (HS); May cost more than what the Astros want to spend SS Marek Houston (Wake Forest) A college bat should move through the system fairly quickly. Either way, it’ll be nice to add talent to the system.
With the boatload of really good hs SS available Ithink all these teams are looking to cut deals to draft overslot guys later. That probably bodes well for Houston to play a different game and get a better talent at 21, but it also means they will only get 1 premium rated talent out of this draft. It’ll be interesting to see if LA calls up Bremner this year.
The first two picks are definitely under-slot deals — so that will allow the Nats and Angels to spend more in later rounds. ‘It’s not outside the realm of possibility that Bremner could come up when rosters expand in September, but doubt it will happen.
Brendan Summerhill or Sean Gamble. If possible, Ike Irish would by my #1. Completely avoid Slater de Brun. I have never seen any of these guys play. Just going on strength of name.
The high school shortstop run is ridiculous. Out of control, really. What are we at 7 of the first 14 picks?
still available are Ike Irish, Marek Houston, and Jace LaViolette. those are my hopefuls. Looks like Summerhill could fall too.
Marek Houston is going to the Twins. We may see a run on the college bats in the next couple of picks.
18 picks 11 SS 10 SS from High School Yowza 2 more picks to get out of the way to somehow land Summerhill.
