No. This is simply the recognition that he is in fact an MLB prospect and not an MLB level player. He may progress to that point and he may not. We have not seen enough of him to even guess about his future.

How long did it take Bregman or Tucker to look "ready"? Give Brice some time. Let him learn.

Most young prospects struggle initially after being called up. Jac Caglianone, Jackson Holiday, Junior Caminero, and Cole Young all come to mind. The likelihood Brice is going to be good over the next 2-3 weeks is very low.

On a side note, that’s what makes Cam so special. The fact he never looked overwhelmed is not normal.

yes, my point is we don't know yet. The great thing about the MLB is, doesn't matter what round you're drafted out of. Hopefully Brice excels.

He was playing exceptional defense and his knowledge of the plate was pretty apparent even then. I remember being disappointed but not expecting it to continue.

Wish he was given the opportunity to win it tonight instead of letting Cooper Hummel display zero baseball IQ and swing away for a 5 run homer when we needed a sac fly.

We needed any contact and Matthews has struck out 5 times in 7 AB. I have my issues with Espada but Hummel was a better bet to not strike out in that instance. Just because the result was bad doesn’t mean the decision was.

Bregman had 9BB and 29K in his first 25 games.

Lots of players start slow, this was my point.

Hummel is a walking strikeout...not that there was a much better option

You know who had struck out in 7 of his last 9 at bats? Cooper Hummel (and now it's 8 of his last 10). Since the Astros eventually won, not saying one decision over the other was correct, however. Just would have loved to have seen how crazy Clutch would have become if Brice came up to bat and came through.

His quick start is somewhat like Alvarez. Not to his extent, but in immediate impact and at least appearing up to the task before the adjustment and counter adjustment phases. I hope it continues and there is reason to think it will. But there will be the above mentioned phase. It also reminds me of Pena, with the quick start, but with a little problem with adjustments before this this season's return to high expectations.

I'm just not used to so many players I don't know being called up and making it happen with clutch play if not prolific play. It's not very ASTRO like.

    Lol.

I want to see Brice lay down a bunt and run like hell...then steal 2B, then 3B

Hummels approach didn’t look at that great, regardless of the results.

Huh... Zack Short's OPS is now 7th on the team.
