    right on, i've spent all day explaining to my left leaning colleagues why it was unlikely that kerry would win. Educated intellectuals have a very difficult time understanding that regular people in the US don't think like them.

    That is a touch harsh. Only 150,000 voters in Ohio decided this election.

    I think the Democratic party as a whole are more to blame. Traditional Democratic states like Wisconsin, Florida, and Michigan are becoming tough sells for the Democrats. Voters no longer appear to be connecting with the Democratic party. And to their credit, Republicans have done the better job here.
