They could do a lot worse at DH than DJ.

Mind giving us the cliff notes for the Harper trade?

For sure. Also, our starting 1B has negative war for the season and we're starting a rookie who may not be ready at 2B. Our three worst positions this season may be 1B, DH, and 2B.

Nationals ownership originally was okay with them trading Harper. Teams ended up having a deal in place but ownership still had final say. Nationals ownership backed out(I'm pretty sure they were still hoping to extend him before he became a free agent). The 5 prospects going to the Nationals were Randy Ceser, Abraham Toro, Josh James, JB Bukauskas, and Kent Emanuel.

In the end Nationals lost Harper for nothing but at the same time, those prospects ended up being nothing special. Toro being the best. Had Houston landed Harper, would they have beaten Boston in the ALCS and eventually LA in the WS??? On a side note, I read a while ago that Houston tried to sign him as a free agent. But they basically offered a 1 year, big money deal but Harper wanted long term.

It's a really good listen. Luhnow is very honest.

He really loved Eric Hosmer apparently. Throwing out our best player, Altuve, for Hosmer at KC, "If the they won't do that, then they won't do anything"...2013ish...glad that didn't work out

The Pirates screwed us up (not really at all!) in the Correa draft...we were going to take Appel in the LMJ spot, but oh well...Buxton was our #2 if Correa balked at the price

#1 regret is the Carlos/Fiers/Hader trade...#2 is Osuna

He has talked to a few owners about a job, just not interested right now (not "blackballed" at all)

This isn’t entirely true. Like I said I don’t know the exact rules, but there are scenario where players start a rehab stint then get pulled off of it and are not activated within 30 days (as I referenced happened with Pedro Leon). I’m sure there is some consequence of that (like maybe the player’s minimum IL stint clock resets?). I also know that pitchers recovering from Tommy John surgery can receive up to three ten-day extensions on their rehab time for a maximum of 60 days.

All that matters is that he stays healthy, this is 100% on him......if he can't stay healthy, it doesn't matter....so far he is the Anthony Davis of the Astros,
