Windhorst: Rockets still looking at Giannis

    Here are some tidbits about their advanced defense stats, if you believe what they convey. It doesn’t tell the whole story of course, but DFS has been a strong defender (arguably more so than Dillon) in many aspects.

    I would say that there are a few things (including offense) that DB does better
    1. against Big bigs. He has a low center of gravity and is exceptionally strong. You have seen his consistent success in dealing with bigs such as Wemby
    2. Offensively DB has more creation flashes. It serves you well when your main guys are out. But he is not efficient and goes out of his lane. So opportunity cost for more efficient offense from other guys (esp when KD is here) is high.
    I don’t know what is the best stats to back up the team defense side of things but all signs (incredible on/offs, versatility scores - he is much longer, etc, rim protection) are pointing to him being at least as good, if not better, than Dillon Brooks. In this particular team context, I just think DFS fits much better and I would take him over DB any day.
