He doesn't strike me as the high Assist dude when there is no guy like Durant....

But great shooter and potential scorer though.

When he went down to the Gleague, all his stats were about scoring and the Assist number was decent but not eye popping.

Reed looks the same as he always did when given minutes. We would be dumb as all hell to give this kid up.

Reed is very promising, and we already know what he’s capable of against this level of competition. He just needs to continue building confidence as he gets more minutes, especially if he can improve his defense. Whether he earns increased playing time will definitely depend on whether he is a defensive liability or not. Maybe it's too early to say but I already see some real improvement on the defensive end. Hopefully, we won’t need to give Fred 34+mpg.

Ive got no idea why some cant see how good of a passer he is. Durant will help for sure, but just give him better than larry, curly and mo and he's going to rack up assists and generate good looks.

His playmaking and vision do not stand out as much as Joker's did.....vs Scoring

But his scoring could be borderline Elite is what I aimed at.

Curry isn't that comparable to be honest as he had a whole Offense structured around him and Klay.

If you really want to compare, yeah, he could probably be more of a slower young Damian Lillard who could play with a McCollum (Fred VV).

The big difference between Dame and Steph is that Dame is much more inclined to shoot from the get go

And directly attack which seems to be tailor made for Shepp ....but we will see....

Summer League is like teaching stuff to babies for Reed Sheppard, not worth much fuss.

Should've had +5 more assist tonight.. I swear everytime he passes to Williams, it ends up being a brick or turnover.

He's too alone at the offensive generation. We should have a creative wing next to him.
Playing without sets doesnt help. Too easy to defend him.

I think Reed showed a lot of improvement last night. The defensive effort was excellent, with maybe one blow-by the whole game that I can recall. His hands continue to be excellent with the blocks and steals. He seemed more composed with the ball in his hands. I do want to see him hit the outside shot at a higher clip and incorporate the middies a bit more here and there. The dude is never going to be a Tim Hardaway/AI type with the ball, maybe not even a Mark Price with it, but if he can play at his pace with a sure handle, it can work. I feel like often times, he's one additional crossover from gaining some space, but he'll pick up the dribble or pass off. I think that will improve with more and more experience.

Dame is a capable passer. Reed is a natural passer. He just has it. He also went mini Klay there for a bit when he realized his teammates were the dudes from Average Joes.

For those saying he couldn’t get past the bigs, when he got into PNR his roller wouldn’t roll and Reed ran right into a double. There is literally no NBA talent on this SL team outside of Reed. Just awful. Can we cut Kevon today?

That's something we could use coaching with at the main club too tbh. Often our pick & roll actions are wasted by taking the wrong angles or not completing the movement properly so we're not creating the mismatches the action is supposed to create. Both Fred and Jalen had the same bad habit of taking such a close angle and staying so close to the screen man that both defenders could either jump at them or simply take a step back and stop the roll as well. Hopefully KD will show them the adjustments they need to make to actually get the space we need because we do have the screeners to do it now, and Reed especially will benefit from that window a good screen can create. It's clear if we give Reed some airspace in rhythm then he's going to hit at a high clip. His shot form is one of the nicest I think I've ever seen aesthetically.

if the rockets truly wanted to play at a faster pace they should have played Reed way more. His outlet passing is one of the best parts of his game. He just kicks the ball up before defense can get set ala Tyrese Halliburton.

I think that's taking fandom to a creepy level, but I guess you could call the Rockets and make Reed an offer.

Reed is solid as hell mentally and just needs to keep putting in the work to maximize his potential. Big fan of the pure defense training, consistent laser focus will move the needle and help him go far.

Every time I watch it back the thing that impresses me most is his balance, on both his layups and his shots the form is just textbook. Hopefully he manages to get some real run this year and get a chance to get comfortable scoring on a real NBA defense. I still don't see the superstar so many people do, but I could easily see an upgraded version of a FVV type player with more of a JJ Redick/Kyle Korver tier 3 ball. That's one hell of a starter even if it's not a perennial all-star.
