This is the issue with metrics. They don’t measure every physical phenomenon and many metrics are either flawed or lacking/incomplete. Defensive rating takes into account team defensive statistics. (What the other 4 guys on the floor are doing) DRtg = Team_Defensive_Rating + 0.2 * (100 * D_Pts_per_ScPoss * (1 - Stop%) - Team_Defensive_Rating)
The problem with metrics is that they sometimes disagree with the eye test of people who don't know what they are seeing when they watch basketball and those kinds of people don't want objective evidence that they are wrong. Now there's obviously some nuance, and sample size can cloud the numbers, but for the most part, when there's a decent sample, you are what your numbers say you are.
Would love to see him get reps off ball this summer league. Off ball screens and running through traffic.
Good warmup for Reed. The coaches/front office want him to shoot as much as possible to prepare him for an "instant offense" off the bench role in the regular season. He did something similar in the G-league appearances. So I'm not overly concerned about his shooting efficiency tonight, since in the regular season he won't be the focus of the defense and he won't be "instant offense all night long" like he was tonight. It will be short bursts as a role player in somewhat limited minutes. Not a bad showing though -- 40% shooting and he looked great on defense. Smart, aggressive defender which make up for his lack of size.
What a great showcase, now we know why he was untradable lol Looks like he put on about 7-10 lbs of muscle, worked on his handle, and seems like the game has slowed down a bit. Even more impressive since the rest of this roster is terrible and the opposition knows where the ball is going all summer. A few more games like this and I think we can rest easy at the backup PG position this year...
Reed looks to have added some nice, and much needed bulk already. He just needs to go out and be confident. You can tell Udoka wanted him to succeed last season because he knows what he's capable of on offense. He succeeded when he was guaranteed long minutes, but you shouldn't need to have that to play your game. Minutes are earned, and he wasn't earning them. FWIW I've always been high on Reed, and I still fully expected his first season to be a glorified redshirt season.
42% from the floor 38.5% from 3 85% from the stripe an assist to turnover ratio of 2.5:1 or better an EFG above 52.5
Bro took 1 year to noticably bulk up meanwhile I saw JG on youtube still strength training with baby weights.
It's way too small a sample size, but Sheppard's handles seem to have tightened up a bit. He looks a bit more comfortable having the ball in his hands and his dribbles seem lower. Time will tell how effective he'll be in real games, of course.
