We'll be interesting to see how Presti handles these guys making max money after this upcoming season. Will be interesting to see the roster build out from there.
Lmao, folks, I need a break, gosh, how much money can they throw at them.... This is still Shai's team, nothing against him.
It's actually crazy what they've set up. These contracts kick in '26-'27. They'd probably have to let Hartenstein go but they just drafted Sorber to replace him. Cason has a few cheap years left for when Dort leaves. Topic who I thought could've been the best player in last year's draft is just waiting. And an endless foray of low-end but useful role players who they hope can develop further. This is why I'm disappointed we just dumped Cam even if we are supposedly done developing players. It's always good to have young prospects in the slow cooker to replace guys who become too expensive.
Presti is a genius and I expect him to figure it out but I expect them to lose Hartenstein, Dort, and Caruso all within the next 2 years. Cason Wallace contract expires in 2 years and I'm sure he'll want to get paid his first big contract too. All those guys played huge roles in their playoff run. Seems like Presti is banking on their hoard of 1st round picks and his stellar talent evaluation to say competitive. I'm very interested to see how OKC and Celtic pivot the next years.
Yeah you're exactly right but that seems to be the plan. It's what Denver tried to do but they were less prepared for it. OKC locked up their big 3 but the supporting cast is going to have to be a revolving door of younger guys. The good thing is, since they're so deep already, the newer players they have to rely on will be 2nd and 3rd year guys instead of rookies. After next year, Dort, Hart, and Caruso will probably be gone but Sorber, Cason, and Topic will be ready to place them. They have 4 1sts in 2026 so when Cason eventually has to go, they're hoping one of those guys will be ready to take his place and same for Topic after that. It's like they've built an assembly line of cheap role players.
SGA, Williams and Holmgren are all well worth their maxes. OKC can't lose by locking them up for 5 years. Just won a ring and those 3 are likely to collectively get better in the coming years SGA Dort Williams Holmgren + well curated vet mins and rookie contracts is an elite team
I dont think they can afford Dort when those maxes kick in. 57+57+50. Thats basically the salary cap RN lol. I agree JDub and SGA are worth the salary but I dont think Chets 15/8 is worth 30% of the cap esp with his injury history.
They should be able to keep him just fine, the cap will continue to increase. They probably move off of Caruso and Hartenstein in the next few years though. Cason Wallace might be a tough decision if he keeps developing.
If you are saying that they are the Super Saiyan Nuggets, I tend to agree. X-cept that they could be having 3 Type of Jokers while Denver only got one if all of them develop. Also Joker won when he was 28, they got 1 that is 26, one is 23, one is 22. The Other 2 have potential to be much better than Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon. Jaydub already is. Not to say the Organization plus Staff are much more advanced well oiled machinery.
