Turkish league is part of euroleague, it is recognized the second hardest euroleague after the actual euroleague. You are right, I never knew Jrue was an all star at age 22 as well, my bad. But he never got another all star till he got the Celtics buff after that. Sengun oth prob gonna get more than 2 for his career..
Sengun going into his 5th year is on par (or should be) with some of the better second bananas in the league. Could Jaylen Brown for example be the 1A on a 2 seed in the West like Sengun was? Probably not. I don't think Jalen Williams could do it either for what its worth. One of Reed or Jabari will fill in that 3rd role (probably Reed). Durant is a stopgap until Amen ascends to superstardom. All 4 of the youngins have a road to superstardom but Amen's is by far the most clear and easiest to see actually happening. He is a literal mutant on the court and unlike some others that have come and gone, he actually has the motor and work ethic to back it up.
Jaylen Brown has been probably the 2nd best player on a championship team, another finals team, and 4 ECFs teams. I'm not sure there's really a basketball fan or executive outside of Houston who don't think Jaylen Brown can't be a #2 on a 2nd seed in the west.
We can agree to disagree on his defense. He's improved but he is a bad defensive player. In our offense he needs to be a capable shooter
If speaking with any people on the Buck's side, be it media or fans: any hypothetical of a trade is likely around Amen. The pros and cons should be around that if folks want to seriously debate this unlikely hypothetical. Otherwise, we can let this thread sleep. Can argue about Sengun in his regular thread. Anytime this thread gets bump, I see the thread title, i click thinking maybe actual news....
If you're willing to ignore all statistical evidence to keep your opinion, yes, we'll have to agree to disagree
We can agree to disagree. That's cool. I'm not a huge stats person. I get the eye test doesn't work always and I'm just a fan but I don't see it. I'd rather you be right and myself wrong
Some of it was just not in the cards or they chose the wrong player. With Green, it was the wrong player. Bari, they didnt get Banchero and with Thompson they didnt get Wemby. Getting Sengun kinda offset Green and getting Thompson kinda offset Bari. If Thompson keeps his progression, nobody is gonna care because he's going to be a prime Kawhi type of player. I think Smith will be a star role player, kinda like what Gordon has turned into. Although I wanted Edey vs Shepperd, I think Shepperd is going to be a Mark Price type which is gonna be very good player.
Totally agree and its not that hard to become that level of shooter. I mean look at Kawhi and Lowry. Hell, look at Dort from when the Rockets played vs him as a rookie until now. Its just reps, plain reps
He's not bad, just limited as a defender. KAT is a bad defender and Brunson is below avg, that's a problem when 40% is poor to bad defensively
There are PLENTY of posters on this website that did not like Jalen Green, but are also raising genuine questions/concerns about Alperen’s ability to be a true #1. There isn’t a whole lot of “Alpy Bashing” on this website that isn’t said with generosity. I might be one of them, honestly. I’m not certain he’s ever going to be a true #1. And that’s okay. He’s a hell of a player, but he does have some genuine question marks. I do believe that KD can elevate Sengun to “superstar” status, though. He is going to thrive with the extra spacing.
My bad. I thought you meant Sengun as #2 on a 2nd seed. Jaylen Brown has played with Tatum basically his entire career so that's obviously impossible to say, but by the same token Sengun has won zero playoff series so being #1 on a 1st round loser is also not exactly great accolades. In the end, the Rockets clearly don't think Sengun is a #1 because they traded for an often injured 37yr old, and is going to pay him ludicrous amount of money to be that #1.
Part of it was that he clearly didn't try to expand his shooting last offseason. He's also never really improved his FT shooting nor expanded some sort of mid-range game this past year. So I don't know if the desire or the will is there. So while I also think he's capable of becoming a perimeter threat, I'm definitely in a wait and see mode.
OKC just gave Chet a max extension and SGA a max extension, so yes they have two young super stars worth the max, the Rockets have zero. Paulo just got the max as well. The Rockets wanted to be like OKC, they tried and they failed. They are pivoting now. Their top pick after several years of tanking was just traded away, while other guys in that draft class have been given the max already and are their franchise cornerstone. J Dub will also likely get a max extension as well, they have 3 young guys that are worth the max and won a ring already. The Rockets had several chances to get a franchise guy, a young guy guaranteed a max, they didnt. Rockets are not going to rebuild like OKC, it is obvious. Unless you really think Amen and Reed and Tari will all sign a rookie max. In fact they are doing the opposite of OKC, OKC found young super stars they either traded for or drafted, and brought in some relatively young role players that are Vets. The Rockets drafted their role players, and are finding older Vets to carry the team. It does not look like you read the post, even though you repeated what I said.. I said they failed to build the way OKC did, that has nothing to do w Vegas odds for next year. Even if you looked at Vegas odds, OKC is favored to repeat, not Houston, so no they did not build the way OKC did.
