Let's be clear. Before you do a thing, you have to answer the W questions. (Who, What, Where, When, Why, & How).

For the polling questions, we know the answer to most of these. If in the polling, they clarified the "How" question, I think you'd get dramatically different answers.

To illustrate that point, one way to fix the illegal immigration problem is to shoot anybody in the head who doesn't have papers. There fixed it.

The HOW matters, a lot. Rounding up children and putting them into internment camps is not HOW most Americans would want the problem fixed. Utilizing scare tactics is not HOW America operates.

There is another problem, however. "WHO". I think there is distrust with a lot of people about WHO Trump focus on seems to be countries where the majority of people have brown skin. This is highlighted by the fact that his own wife was an illegal immigrant and that he recently gave asylum to white South Africans while simultaneously revoking asylum to other countries.

So just because many Americans agree with the WHAT and the WHY, it doesn't mean they agree with HOW. In America, most liberals believe everyone should be treated fairly. That doesn't seem to be happening.

No one is shooting illegal immigrants in the head or throwing them into internment camps. You bemoan scare tactics and then yourself utilize ridiculous hyperbole, embellishment, and exaggeration in your post.

Illegal immigrants have been given the option of self-deporting. Those being rounded up now have chosen to break the law by entering the country illegally and have subsequently chosen to ignore the guidance on self-deporting. Many have committed further crimes while here. It would take a very naive person to think that a show of force was not necessary to get illegal immigrants (who refuse to self-deport) to leave. They've had chance after chance. None of this should be a surprise to them -- it was a HUGE part of Trump's campaign platform.

Are we to feel pity for those who have illegally snuck into our country, illegally stayed, and then refused to leave? How can someone say that they weren't warned repeatedly? These are not rule followers, and so therefore it requires a stronger approach to compel them to leave. This should be obvious.

Trump is fulfilling campaign promises that are well supported by the American people in polling and at the ballot box. It's democracy in action.

    GOOD DAY

Again, you are answering the wrong question. You stated "They've had their chance" and they overstayed their welcome. That is the WHY. As the polling states, most Americans tend to agree.

The disagreement is in the HOW.

Just because he won an election based on WHY should we deal with immigration, that doesn't give the president cart blanche to do whatever he wants in that name. As the cliche goes, do the ends justify the means?

I gave you a ridiculous hyperbole simply to illustrate the point. Funny enough, Trump himself used exactly that same ridiculous hyperbole, if you recall, when he said he could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue. So before you bemoan my ridiculous hyperbole in defense of your president, you may want to check yourself.

According to a 2021 study, more than 99.9% of peer-reviewed scientific papers agree that climate change is mainly caused by humans, according to a new survey of 88,125 climate-related studies.

Think about that. Trump seeks so called experts from that 1% to head the agencies in his administration and push his altered reality. It's ignorance, greed, and very disturbing mentality.

    https://share.google/ZJ13GkTjmhnSjK0vW

One of the key disseminators of climate misinformation is the fossil fuel industry, who court and pay Trump millions to do their bidding. Then you have guys like Abbott and Cruz doing the same. It's greed and ignorance, with a dose of complete lack of concern on the effects on the environment and people affected by their decisions. It's gross and disgusting selfishness.

Conservative or right-wing outlets “give priority to and amplify denial, scepticism, and conspiracy theories regarding climate change”, and social media bots and trolls promote denialist discourse. In the US, nine out of the 10 top online shows are right-leaning and climate-denying.

IPIE pointed out how governments like Russia and right-wing political parties – from Vox Party and AfD in Europe to the Republican Party in the US – have magnified climate denialism and misinformation. So it comes as no surprise that IPIE named President Donald Trump as a “key influencer” for climate misinformation, as his “logical fallacies, unfounded claims, and cherry-picking of findings were heavily retweeted by other users”. In fact, close to a quarter of the tweets related to his announcement of the US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement originated from bot accounts, deepening the links between social media, right-wing politics, and climate misinformation.

Climate misinformation turning crisis into catastrophe, report says | Climate crisis |

Donald Trump, who has called climate science “a giant hoax” and “bullshit”, is identified as a key influencer, “whose logical fallacies, unfounded claims and cherrypicking of findings were heavily” reposted by other social media users, including many bot accounts. The report says Russian intelligence has used troll farms to disseminate disinformation about climate change.

I'm sorry, this is gibberish. was the 2021 study, a new survey? was the 2021 study peer-reviewed? was the survey peer-reviewed? did the study study the peer-reviewed papers or the survey?

Historic flooding seems to happening more and more.

3 dead after historic flash flooding hits New Mexico town ravaged by wildfires

Two of the victims were identified as the children of a soldier on leave from Fort Bliss, Texas.

The remote village of Ruidoso, about 180 miles south of Albuquerque, said a 4-year-old girl, a 7-year-old boy and a man age 40 to 50 were all “swept downstream by the unprecedented floodwaters."

The boy and girl were identified as the children of a soldier on leave from Fort Bliss, the military post in El Paso, Texas, officials said Wednesday. The family were caught in the flood while they were camping near Ruidoso, the base said in a statement.

"Ruidoso endured devastating wildfires and flooding last summer, and now catastrophic flooding is hitting this resilient community again. This crisis demands immediate action," she said in a statement.

Videos posted on social media and verified by NBC News showed roads submerged in fast-moving floodwaters and a home smashing into trees after it was swept down Rio Ruidoso.

Crawford said that before the rains, the river that swept away the house was so small "you could have jumped across it."

The National Weather Service reported that the river appeared to have crested at a record 20.24 feet Tuesday. The previous record was 15.86 feet, set last year.

The South Fork Fire ignited on June 17, 2024, and burned through more than 17,000 acres. The fire was so hot that it turned the soil hydrophobic, meaning it does not absorb water, Crawford said. There was flooding in the community last year.

The soldier and the soldier's spouse sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized in Texas, according to the statement. Additional details about the man who was killed were not immediately released.

Four people remain missing, officials said Wednesday. They added that three people were hospitalized and are stable and that 20 people remain displaced.

If course. It was never about the crime. If it was folks that employed illegal immigrants would have been cracked down upon and penalties stiff enough to stop them. Of course that would cause prices to rise and their profits to shrink.

It's only about targeting those that are different.

Why is it that crackdowns only target those at the bottom and not the folks employing them?

Wake up man - the truth is out there.

FEMA by the way was cut back so far that they have no one to go door to door to help with benefits, people are going to miss out on help because of these cuts.

Bad choice of words. Historic level floods and extreme precipitation events are happening more often now.

Nine of the top 10 years for extreme one-day precipitation events between 1910 and 1923 have occurred since 1995

    https://share.google/FqpuNyTqQldzXJ9oW

I'd like to see how the study and chart below has changed since 2011...

Global Warming and the Increase in Extreme Precipitation from 1948 to 2011

Extreme downpours are now happening 30 percent more often nationwide than in 1948.

Extreme downpours – rainstorms and snowfalls that are among the largest experienced at a particular location* – are now happening 30 percent more often on average across the contiguous United States than in 1948.

New England has experienced the greatest change, with intense rainstorms and snowstorms now happening 85 percent more often than in 1948. The frequency of intense rain or snowstorms nearly doubled in Vermont and Rhode Island, and more than doubled in New Hampshire.

FEMA needs a personal sign-off by Kristi Noem before any funds over 100,000 can be released. Disaster response costs routinely soar into the billions as the agency contracts with on-the-ground crews.

Four officials inside the agency said in responding to the flooding-- FEMA ran into the bureaucratic obstacles almost instantly. Multiple sources say Noem didn’t authorize FEMA’s deployment of urban search and rescue teams until Monday, more than 72 hours after the flooding began.

And a source says Texas requested aerial imagery from FEMA to help search and rescue operations, but the imagery was delayed as Texas awaited Noem’s approval for the necessary contract.

A FEMA official also says callers to a disaster call center faced longer wait times as the agency awaited Noem’s approval for a contract to bring in additional support staff.

Isn't having federal support in taking action, sending support, and saving lives more important than anything else? But, Trump doesn't care about global warming and that we are now seeing more intense storms happening, more historic flooding happening, hurricanes intensifying more rapidly, and more need for top notch forecasting and support in the air and on the ground when disasters strike. He'll always be safe. He can fly away to another one of his resorts to avoid any danger.

He'd rather spend 45 billion for migrant detention facility beds, 46 billion for the U.S.-Mexico border wall, 25 billion annually for a Golden Dome, and a total of $350 billion for border and national security funding. He just won't tell anyone that the majority of those illegals being rounded up weren't even a danger to anyone's lives to begin with.
