I'm not crowning anybody. But, Daniels was just a rookie, and I'm taking his and Jalen's rushing ability into account. That's something they are much better at, and it gives them escapability. They are both very accurate passers. I expect CJ to do much better this year though, with more options and a better offensive coach and dead weight gone from the offensive line. I don't expect him to be better running for yards like they do though.
THIS. Like CJ literally had a similarly amazing first season, and then you saw the 2nd year. How are we already crowning him. This must be how everyone felt about crowning CJ after one year haha.
Difference is the Redskins beefed up their Ol with Tunsil/Conerly this offseason, which will allowed them to move Coleman to LG.
We did too. We got a new coordinator and that's what we really needed. Our line was talented and just poorly coached. Every stunt the defense ran resulted in a sack due to lack of communication/continuinty.
How many positive drives and momentum were killed by the Tunsil lean? The penalties always came at the worst times
If a team cant overcome a couple of 5 yd penalties a game then they didn't deserve to win. BTW, Tunsil wasn't getting a false start a game as some falsely claim. After Patterson started at center Tunsil didn't have more false starts than any other OL. I think with better talent around him (No Green) Tunsil is going to have a very good year. Tunsil is much more highly regarded around the NFL than he is in Houston.
Tunsil had 19, next closest o-line (whole nfl) had 9. So you think it didn't have an effect on the offense, or they should have overcome them. Which they did cause they won quite a few games
The Vikings game where he hd 7 penalties was an issue. Like I said, it really wasn't an issue after Patterson took over. Go back and look at the game logs after Patterson took over at center. I'm looking forward to seeing how Tunsil performs with better talent around him.
I get that. Im questioning you saying it wasn't a big deal or they should overcome it. Momentum is a big thing in sports, and there were too many times he had a drive killing penalty. Was happening ever since he got here
In the NFL almost every game is a one possession game. So having a false start that kills a drive can mean the difference between 3 or 7 points. The margins aren't that large in the league. That's why mistakes like turnovers or penalties are killer.
Yes they sure did, and can. Never in my decades of watching football have I seen "pre snap penalty" visibly demoralize a team, like the Vikings game. Its the psychological effect of thinking not only do you need to execute a play, it's believing you can't even run a play at all. Like "I sure HOPE we run this play clean". Its like giving Will Anderson an extra half-sack or tfl a game just for showing up. Like "We're so intimidated just by his potential disruption, it's messing up our cohesion". Or would you want Will Anderson just walking up to the line, tapping an o-lineman before the snap just because? ("Alright, now we have 1st & 5 instead of 1st & 10 for 2-3 times a game!") Yes sporadic false starts is normal and acceptable Its when it's constant volume. Tunsil is first in my memory where its "constant & at bad times". (It doesn't not meant Tunsil is a bad player needing to be traded. Just answering the question of "Do false starts kills drives?")
