Cam Whitmore traded to Wizards for 2 2nd round picks

Redrafting 2023, Cam probably goes 10-15. I think that is worth more than 2 seconds. Frustrating trade but giving Stone the benefit of doubt after this off-season.

 

probably closer to #15 but I think that’s right. I’d argue that draft was much more top heavy than deep. I can only find one player taken after #20 that is rotation-worthy on a good team.

Say what you will about Cam, black hole, low BBIQ, etc. You can even prove some of it with data - fair enough. But a team as messed up as Rockets in offense should have found a way make use of Cam. That is Ime's fault. Cam will carry his part of the blame moving forward.

Mr. Accountability should do the same. For some, he's ******** rainbows...

 

Looks like the trade was expanded a little. Rockets will also receive the draft rights to Majove King along with two SRPs.

 

Cam has scoring talent, but so did Michael Beasley and Jabari Parker. Points alone don't make you great. He's going to get plenty of reps in Washington, but their development environment leaves a lot to be desired. Under Udoka guys like Jalen and Sengun who never played D in their first two seasons became quality defenders. Tari, Amen, and Jabari all improved on both ends of the court as well. This was one of the best spots for Cam to become a well rounded player and he just didn't know it or appreciate it.

At least we sent him to his hometown so we get a PR boost for being player friendly, although I doubt we got much better offers than what Washington gave. Honestly, even if Cam doesn't break out the Wizards won the trade seeing how little they paid for him. It's a free swing for them.

 

Just like that Stone ruined all of the good will he had built up this off season. This is dumb. we will regret this. Im not really looking forward to this upcoming season. I feel like we are going to just trade eveyone away for older players and to save money. This was one move too far and Giannis will be a bad move too we will give up way too much for him. Sometimes its best to build naturally and not go into win now mode. It took everything I had to accept KD here and now youre telling me we barely gave this kid a chance and he is only worth 2 SECOND ROUND PICKS? BULLSHIT.

I want young stars for our assets not hope and prayers that this 100th team will be the charm for KD. Im sorry I tried to accept the entire KD thing. I know his stats but to me this signals future moves that wil destroy us and its because we got KD. They are gonna turn us into the nets or ****ing suns.

Have you watched the Rockets at all over the past few years? Trading away Green for KD isn't ruining the Rockets ability to build naturally. They didn't give up ANY of the promising young core. Green was a losing player. As for Whitmore, He was unplayable. He had plenty of chance to prove himself, and every time he was on the court the only thing he showed was that he had a low BBall IQ and didn't play team ball. He wasn't part of the young core either. The idea that bringing KD in and trading Whitmore gutted our future is wrong. We still have: Amen, Alpi, Bari, Tari and Reed. That's a core.

 

This trade seems like a bad business. Jalen and Dillon gone, seemed like a lot of opportunity to at least showcase Cam to the league to get a better offer. Even if Ime can't stand him, I just don't get the rush to get rid of talented 20 year old on a rookie contract.

For now we do. clearly Ime wants more older talent. he didnt give cam a chance, its as plain as day. we are gonna trade for giannis and we would give away half that to do it. As for Cam we really didnt give him time to grow saying that we did is what sounds stupid to me. But whatever I dont care. We all have our opinions and I dont agree with this direction. I guess we will see if we are the warriors or the suns in this scenario. these guys are mecernaries. they are looking for chips they dont care about the team.

 

The Rockets didn't want to showcase Cam. If he would stayed he likely would of been showcased on the bench.
