My 2028 general election prediction as follows:

Big New York vs Bug Tech

Hillary Clinton picking up Donald J Trump as her running mate.
    Vs
JD Vance is picking Elon Musk as his running mate.

constitutional crisis adverted as neither Trump or Musk are acting president

Elon Musk is one evil Tech Bro, but anything to be a counter weight to a budding dictator.

This is good news for Democrats. It will split off enough wackjob votes from the dip$hit cult to sway elections.

well, we know all the Musk simps are ready to vote for it. They obviously voted R this time around, so that may split some.

But as First Buddy, he wasn't all that different a trash fire than Trump and the general GOP leadership and did plenty to hurt as many people as possible under the guise of some bullshit with DOGE while tossing seig heils around.

The real question is if the Richest Nazi in the World is competent enough to fool regular people (ie not Musk sycophants) into thinking his vision of a political party is actually representative of a 'change' that's for the people. It's going to be bullshit of course, but as well all know, people may still be eager to fall for it. Especially depending on whatever candidtates they find to sell it.

The only way is what Bernie and Zohran are doing. You need progressive candidates to take over the Democratic party. Building a new party isn't going to work. Bypass the corrupt corporate donors and run social media grass roots campaigns to win back the working class with sane policies that actually benefit the working class and not the rich.

Primary old ass moderate Dems like Kat Abughazaleh is doing in Chicago. A 26 year old progressive vs an 80 year old moderate. https://news.wttw.com/2025/03/31/pr...-brings-fight-remake-democratic-party-chicago

Focus on housing, medicare for all, higher wages, education, child care, tax the rich. Leave identity politics behind.

1992 - Ross Perot gets 20% of the vote - uh oh

2002 - Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act

2010 - Citizens United v. FEC (super PACs)

2024 - People like Elon musk use these laws to buy the president, congress, contracts, influence, channels of media, etc

Elon IS the problem. They're all the problem. Socialize politics.

Only the GOP just voted to approve something..... not both sides. The same sides nonsense is the pinnacle of simplistic ignorance....

A serious third party is a great idea....but is Elon serious? Does he only care about enriching his business empire? DOGE was very self serving and Elon isn't exactly viewed as a man of the people.

Elon having a third party is fine. The way the voting works though in major elections will require his party to endorse either the Dem or Repug in order to ensure his priorities are covered when the winner takes power.

That’s kind of why third parties have always either been basically an arm of one party cosplaying some principled independence (see Rand Paul) or are there to brazenly serve as a spoiler for one side (see Jill Stein/Green Party serving the Republicans as a spoiler to pull votes from the left).

We’ll see soon enough how serious Elon will be about his priorities or if he just wants to be another Jill Stein with a vendetta and an agenda to be a spoiler. At this time I do assume he has a policy agenda with the EV and space priorities and could very seriously try to align with back with Dems when we get closer to a major election.

But like Rand Paul he’ll have to culturally align to ensure he’s in good graces with that base of support. So we’ll see soon enough what his play is. For now I think he’s winging it but when it comes election time we’ll probably know what role Elon really wants his third party to play.

This guy is not very smart at all. He has fallen for the oldest conceit that wealth means you are both chosen and smarter about everything than anyone else. A self-aware person would recognize that. This notion that people care about the debt--much less understand it--is not going to be the foundation of a new political party in the US. Heck, most people on Medicaid don't even know they are on Medicaid.

Of course, a self-aware person probably has a conscience and doesn't go on a rampage through government that kills people all over the globe. A person who knows even a scintilla about American history, world history, psychology, law, and our government would never think they could fully buy a President and keep him under their thumb. It's not a video game. Dude did get used and now will go down as one of the all-time great murderers, yet he never even held the position that Pol Pot and others did. But he did break a lot of things fast without knowing anything about what he was doing.

I swear, these people offering simple solutions to incredibly complex societal problems will only increase ignorance and kill us all.
