Cam Whitmore traded to Wizards for 2 2nd round picks

with some of these posts, you’d swear we had just traded away 6MOY James Harden…

 

What part is a lie? Cam got benched for being terrible last year and then sent back to RGV mostly bc he wasn't playing defense.

There's articles and interviews about this , plus, you know we all have eyes that can see this.

 

Stone loves to draft dudes outside the lottery that the coaches will give zero minutes to.

Most GMs try to draft role players outside of top 15 but Stone seems to be the opposite, trying to hit on lotto picks there instead.

I guess it did work with Sengun.

 

How's Phoenix feeling about this?

 

Must be a case of irreconcilable differences in vision, attitude and Cam's worth to the team, and Ime really not wanting to waste his time trying to fix that. That's the only thing that makes sense to trade a talented 20 year old first round draft pick for 2 future 2nd round picks.

 

Nothing you can do when the league lets the Donkey physically attack the Rockets as long as he pretends to apologize later.

 

Man and we don’t even have a 1st round pick next year to try to replace him with. Stone better find me somebody in 2027 with Suns & Nets pick

 

He wasn't playing terrible he was upset because Reed came in playing over him before Reed proved himself. Reed was playing terrible & was allowed to play through his mistakes. Yet the coaching staff is telling Cam he needs to work on this & that before playing. Then they send Cam to the G-League. If I'm Cam I'd been mad too

 

2027 is supposed to be extremely weak. Basically like 2024. On the other hand 2026 is supposed to be one of the best drafts. Basically like 2021. I don’t want to sit out two consecutive drafts. The rockets need to figure out how to turn the least favorable of their 2027 picks into a 2026 1st round pick.

 

How were they inexperienced? Stone had been with the Rockets since 2005. Eli Witus had been with the team since 2008. No, they hadn't been in that exact role but if we had a guy on our bench for 5 years (nobody is on the bench for 15+ years) and he stepped into the starter role, you wouldn't call him inexperienced.

 

It didn't work with Tari?

 

The only logical reason was that he was not exhibiting a team first attitude. I’ve had some great cooks in my kitchen that just couldn’t understand that a good kitchen is a conglomeration of skills and teamwork. I did not hesitate to fire anyone that wasn’t about the team either as a restauranteur or a tech director and that is always the right move.

Stone did well with Cam. Ime just made him obsolete is all. Ime is the captain now.

 

To be fair, the Wizards are essentially the G-League. He simply got reassigned.

 

Or maybe he felt a way about a rookie playing over him who was allowed to play bad for a significant stretch. Ime preached guys had to earn minutes but Reed's given leeway to play horrible & still rewarded minutes while Cam needs to change his whole game. Its a bad message

 

Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to send the “right message”. Cam obviously didn’t respond to the message sent his way. Reed obviously did or they wouldn’t have made this move. Neither of us know what was taking place at practice or private discussions, but there are logical conclusions based on the outcome. I didn’t like that Cam was given up on, but I’m also not privy to what is happening behind the scenes.

 

Didn't get go like 10 percent from 3 to start the season while being lost on defense.

How's that not terrible

 

Only thing that concerns me is the injury history with Cam. Wizards will find out good or bad because we never played him long enough granted he got hurt with us once.
