Every 1st rd pick isn't a star,in fact most of them are out of the league by their 5th season.

OKC would have 40 stars by now if they hit on all of their picks.

You don't have to spell that out to Rockets fans.

They know that for a fact after drafting Jalen Green.

Yet there are a ton of posters who will bring up Christopher and the likes, as if a first round pick failing is some inexcusable f**k up.

Stone, coach and rest of the team know what Cam is all about. The league also knows and has little interest in him. The franchise chose to give him away, rather than deal with him. That is all we need to know. We are Rocket fans and the team has spoken with their actions. That said, good luck with your future endeavors, young Cam.

Mostly via trade and free agency. They've whiffed on a ton.

Look at my post and then look at yours. You might need to take a break from the internet. You do realize I made this name 3 years ago right? It's not hard to search through my posts and see that I was on the frontline of wanting Jalen traded. When is men's mental health month again?

Do we know whose picks they are? Wizards second rounders will be high 2nd rounders if they're in the next few years. I don't mind those to add depth at low prices.

I'm sure that by now in 19 pages someone has gone over this, but here goes...
while I was originally thinking the picks would be from the Wizards and therefore high 2nd round in the near future, they are:

    2026 (via Bulls)
    2029 (via Kings)

so, who knows. Kings do look like a mess, but maybe not for another full 3 seasons. Meh.

So true.. for every Christopher or Garuba, there is a Sengun or Eason.

Stone's only true draft mistake was JG over Mobley, but even then, he would have never traded for the Sengun pick if he drafted Mobley. And Mobley as a good floor raiser may have even prevented us from drafting Amen.
So by drafting the worse player in JG, Stone may have ended up with a better team anyway with the addition of Sengun, Amen and KD.

Agree, there were some guys some of us wanted with those later picks that we regret not taking now.

I drove my fam to Fredericksburg and have been eating and drinking until an hour ago when I saw this news. I've always liked Cam's talent and really wanted to see him succeed here, but that's water under the bridge now. Two 2nds is Tate compensation, and disappointing. It's Ime's team and he's got a vision for what that should look like. I'll cheer that vision if it brings us a championship and then these moves won't be judged as harshly.

    Dunkel goodnight my friends!

They were a mess for 15+ years, I would say the odds are in our favor.

The only way the Rockets will regret this is if Whitmore gives 100% effort on defense and averages 4-5 assists per 36 minutes for the Wizards. All he ever had to do was give 100% effort on both ends when his name was called and willingly share the ball.

The chances of that happening are slim to none. I won't say it's 0, but it's highly unlikely to happen for a few years. Sad ending to the Whitmore saga but an adult decision had to be made. His trade value was dropping fast and his selfish identity did not suit the roster.

The Kings should be worse than the Wiz in 2029 and the Bulls are play-in at best next year. Not too different from Washington’s picks in the aggregate imo.

If you are fixated on every acquisition, then yes, you will be disappointed, but team building does not work that way. The circumstances are so different for the Rockets when they drafted TyTy, Cristopher, Garuba and Cam. Players getting their numbers on a tanking team does not mean they are winning players. The first three players were trying to establish themselves on a roster with very few established players, or roles. In different situations, they might have flourished. Cam joined the team in Ime's first year. Amen got in the rotation and Cam did not.

Once the Rockets shifted into a winning mode after becoming a 2 seed and losing in the first round, the Rockets decided they had enough information about Jalen Green and went for an upgrade. I think they would have been willing to see if Cam could play his way into the rotation, but Cam and his people wanted to move on and Stone accomodated him.

Ime took a team that won 22 games in 2023 and has them winning 51 in two years. I trust that Ime and Stone know what they are doing.

Sad....should've at least gotten a late first. But at least he's with an irrelevant team in the East and not the Lakers or any other West team.

Did you watch any games the past 2 seasons? Cam looked annoyed every single time he got in the game during garbage time. Ime was constantly getting on Cam’s ass and telling him to stop looking like he was pouting. He looked like a whiny little b**** majority of the time he got on the court.

Is Cam talented as hell? Yeah. He is. If he was willing to do the necessary things to contribute to winning basketball on a contending team- he’d still be here and he would’ve cracked the rotation more consistently. Maybe he will
Go to Washington and become a much better player and mature and thrive. He wasn’t going to succeed here- but that’s not on Ime and Stone. It’s on Cam.

It’s evident that if your personality is abrasive and your talent doesn’t fully compensate for your overconfidence, teammates and management will grow weary of your volatility. Cam’s attitude issues likely ran deeper than they appeared, as evidenced by the meager return of 2 second round picks in trade offers, with Stone and Ime concluding that his flaws were too entrenched to address, despite his youth. I’m not particularly sympathetic, he was, after all, the 20th pick for a reason.

While I wish him well, I’m pleased the front office and Ime took decisive action to foster stronger locker room chemistry and cohesion ahead of the season. This trade also suggests a commitment to improved ball movement, particularly after parting ways with ball dominant players with low assist numbers and tunnel vision like Dillon, Jalen, and Cam.

Didn’t Cam have concerns about his attitude even prior to us drafting him? I know his pre draft interviews went south. It’s why we were able to get him, of course his medicals were concerning as well. It seemed like Cam had a pretty positive attitude when supporting his teammates on the bench from what I saw, especially later in the season. His interview after he had that great game clearly rubbed the FO and Ime the wrong way tho
