I doubt Jalen is ever an All-Star.

This coming season, he'll probably average 20+ ppg with the Suns because his FGAs should increase. His efficiency probably won't change much because he's programmed to take tougher shots than he's capable of efficiently hitting.

The most important thing to him now is his next contract when he opts out in 2027.

I'm sooooo glad the Suns took his $35 million/year off the Rockets' hands.

Jalen's game still depends largely on how well his jump shot develops. Last season he still largely played the same way on offense as he always has--struggled to finish around the rim consistently, no really effective midrange game, not a great passer. The one thing he really has going for him in the halfcourt game is that he can always create space to get his shot off. Of course he can also play in transition with his speed.

I think his absolute best-case scenario is to make an all-star team or two in his prime, but he will need to get significantly better as a jump shooter to do it. I put the odds at around 5%.

The other weird thing here is that the fit on Phoenix seems super awkward. Maybe they make Booker more of a point guard, and I could see him doing well in that role, kind of like the shift Harden made around the same age. If that's the case, he should draw plenty of perimeter defensive attention and set Jalen up for easier looks than he got in our offense? That's the only way I can see Jalen benefiting from this situation. If they have Devin continue to play the way he always has, it's just going to mean fewer shots for Jalen and probably quite a bit of frustration.

Don't forget a tighter handle. How many times did we watch Jalen get strip over the past few years especially when the opposing team put a ton of pressure.

'From the host that would have drafted Harold Miner over Robert Horry.'

I think the Houston narrative of getting Durant for nothing is misguided.

Green is a frustrating player if you are expecting him to be an illegitimate child of Micheal Jordon, but he’s a 20pt a game scorer plays defense and moves the ball well. I think he will be sneaky good as a point guard for Phoenix. I know they are saying Booker will be, but as long as green can make the passes (much improved last year) he can get his points as an after thought and allow the feature of Booker and Beal as shooters.

Brooks might just be one of the most underrated two way players in the league. His offense was much better than advertised. His bad decisions were fewer than advertised. I will miss the intensity, energy and calming presence he brought to the floor. He was that ballsy player that could answer momentum swings.

This team will be fun to watch and is a playoff team in my opinion. I also think their draft assets are less valuable now.

To be clear, I love the deal from Houston’s perspective too, but Phoenix got what they needed

The offense here wasn't ever suited for Jalen. He needed space to operate in a fast paced offense, wasn't ever getting that here. Hopefully Phoenix is the right home for Jalen's skill set

    IMO,

The #10 pick was close to nothing because the Rockets don't need more developmental youngsters sitting on the bench.

Jalen was close to nothing because the Rockets replaced him with someone who could actually deliver the promise of what Jalen represented: (1) A legit #1 high-volume option on offense who's presence on the floor would make others more efficient, not less and (2) an elite closer. KD is so much better at both of those it ain't funny. He's also a superior defender and has a much higher basketball IQ than Jalen could ever dream of. There are many Rockets fans who forcefully argue Jalen leaving is addition by subtraction. I'm glad he's gone.

DB was the biggest loss, for sure. But between Tari and DFS, his role is covered. His career-high 3-point shooting last season was great, but it probably won't continue. I feel bad for him joining a rebuilding team like the Suns. At least he can thank Ime for the Rockets guaranteeing him $85 million.

I am very curious to see how Suns fans feel about Jalen after 40 games. Their vitriol for KD is ridiculous. If you remove the last 10 games of the season where they went 1-9, the Suns were 32-20 with KD and 3-17 without him. This suggests their optimism for Jalen may come with a short leash.
