There are obviously posters who have a different take on this trade… that’s fine, until proven otherwise, we all are giving opinions.

My take is that this was not done with any intention to benefit the organization! This was done to appease a coach who couldn’t get Cam to bow down to him.

I’m old enough to know that the vast majority of people are motivated by wealth and power! Cam is seeking wealth and Udoka power! Like I said earlier, we got ripped off by the Wizards, and in my opinion, they knew perfectly well the situation and jumped on the opportunity to get a player who is still very young and who was projected to go mid lottery in his draft but miraculously fell into our lap at the 20th pick!

Cam lost millions when he fell into our lap in the draft and was not going to get any substantial bump in his next contract unless he showed he was worthy of such a contract! You tell him point blank, get your attitude in order and pass the ball or you’ll never play any significant minutes while you are here!! I’m almost certain that that would’ve solve all the problems…. If it didn’t, I’m positive another team would’ve been in line to try to find a gold nugget for a mere second rounder.

If his attitude would’ve become a distraction… pay him to stay at home!!

(P.S.) I lost my cool earlier …. It was a faux-pas that I’ll try not to repeat again!

    …….
    …….
    …….

    I don’t get it

hell, I just saw a post in this thread calling Cam a super hot chick with a toxic personality

Super hot chick? Cam is a dime?

bench chucker that is allergic to passing with inconsistent effort and a bad attitude doesn’t sound super hot to me

Cam is a 3 with a bad personality

Absolutely terrible. Cam could have been the next Jaylen Brown for us. This kid is barely 20/21. Rockets made the wrong decision here. I do not like this.

He’s a great scorer but his value was so low due to his attitude. It’s not a good look to be an unproven malcontent on a playoff team. Hopefully the Wizards confine to be trash and the picks actually hold value.

What attitude issues? What body language? Is this all your judgement and imagined or is this truth and what was actually reported?

I’m pretty sure they tried all of this with him over the past 2 years. They knew where he was in his development and obviously knew it was time to go ahead and move him. If they only got 2 2nd rnd picks for him then that lets you know what the league felt about him. I don’t blame Ime, or say he couldn’t handle him. He is the coach, and it’s up to Cam to fall in line. He was only 1 year in so he hadn’t proven anything yet to demand any special treatment. Since it’s the wizards picks they should end up pretty high 2nd rounders that can have some value down the line.

Time to move on and hopefully they can use that spot bring in a real SG now.

    Garuba, Christopher, Washington .... Whitmore.

Four first round picks turned into second round picks.

Letting Whitmore go feels like it could be a mistake, but I’m glad we have a coach who makes effort and team culture a priority.

Not a fan of this trade. Would rather have seen him with a new lineup. Or at least a 1st round pick if nothing else. I do think he still has a chance to become productive, he is about to turn 21.

...that being said, just like Jalen,no longer a Rocket so he doesn't matter anymore. Good luck in his career just not against us.

He was a gamble worth taking. Not too worried about him becoming anything we regret trading. I'll side with Ime over Cam Whitmore on this one.

I just looked it up because I was curious, and Cam actually had more total passes than field goal attempts

he averaged 8 shot attempts and 10.5 passes per game

Yea, he’s young enough that he can turn it around. I had hoped they kept him and made a decision later in the season, but it probably was mutual, and forcing him to stay likely wouldn’t have changed much of anything or possibly even devalued him more.

I think they will play them together, and Cam doesn't pass, so sucks to be Tre Johnson!
