Please limit talk in this thread to this series. Other topics should be discussed in the appropriate threads. Play-by-play is not allowed. If you need that, there are other places to find it. Political discussions belong in the D&D forum not in here. All games are broadcast on Space City Network unless otherwise noted.

7-4 Lance McCullers Jr. (R) vs. Ben Casparius (R) 8:10

7-5 Framber Valdez (L) vs. Shohei Ohtani (R) 6:15 FOX only

At this point, NI, NI, NI, but I suspect 1-2, which in their place I would be fine with. "Hoping" to see a better LMJ.

True litmus test. Let's see if we bring it or expose cracks.

We’ve had plenty of “litmus tests” this season. Our 29-21 against teams .500 or better is by far the best in baseball.

Really sucks injuries have gotten LMJ to this point. These are the type of games he used to thrive in. If I recall correctly he pitched the first game back in Dodger stadium after the scandal news broke and absolutely shoved.

Hope he somehow finds some magic tonight.

Projecting starting pitching vs the Rangers and Mariners:

    Dodgers
    McCullers
    Valdez
    Gusto/Gordon

    Guardians

    Brown
    Walter
    McCullers

    Rangers
    Valdez
    Gusto/Gordon
    Brown

    All Star Break

    Seattle
    Valdez
    Gusto/Gordon or McCullers
    Brown

So we are perfectly set up to get Valdez and Brown to both get starts vs our 2 division rivals.

Only point I'd make is that if Brown pitches the last game of the 1st half he won't be pitching in the ASG and would be set to start the 1st game of the 2nd half.

    Possible, but not guaranteed.

Valdez would be essentially pitching only 1 inning (possibly doesn't even get in the game). That's if he's even selected, but I suspect he will be. There are a ton of great starting pitchers who would be selected ahead of him (Brown, Fried, Crochet, DeGrom, Skubal) and then Rodon and Ryan as possibilities. He could get screwed.

I still think Valdez goes from a Friday to a Friday start the next week even with the worse case scenario he pitches an inning in the ASG. That's just a side bullpen session for him essentially.

Plus you're trying to buy extra rest heading into the 2nd half of the season. And Brown not getting any extra rest doesn't follow that plan (Sunday to Friday start).

Maybe he needs to develop some “elbow soreness”…..

I will be majorly pissed if Framber or Brown pitches in the all star game.

Raleigh on pace for damn near 70 homers and the Mariners are still behind the hospital Astros by 7 games. I find this absolutely hilarious honestly.

If only Joe had used his best relievers for innings 7-9 Weems would likely still be on the team…his other outing he had a scoreless inning.
