George A. Romero's Resident Evil Watched this yesterday and found it fairly intriguing, especially in the back half where it really finds its footing on what it's trying to say about Romero and the genre in general. I was a huge fan of the first three Resident Evil games in college and I've always been a big fan of Romero so I'm right in the demo for the subject matter. A little dry in spots but overall a solid documentary especially if are a fan of either RE or Romero. B+
I just saw "Finch" with Tom Hanks. That's my kind of film. A man, a dog, and a robot during an apocalypse. It felt like I was watching "Castaway" in some ways. And, Tom delivered another brilliant performance imo. Did he lose a bunch of weight for this role as well? Amazing actor. And, the robot was great! It doesn't work without the robot (for obvious reasons). Just a few days in the life of an apocalypse. Very sad, too. It poked me in all the right places.
Bummer, I had high hopes for that movie. Relatedly, "Hero Fiennes Tiffin (of the Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes family)" is the most upperclass twit name I've heard in a while.
Plane - 9/10 Gerard Butler is a hit or miss for me (mostly miss), but man, this was 1 of his best movies in years thrilling movie that had my attention the entire run time
A Most Wanted Man 5.5/10 Maybe a 6 wasn’t bad. But just wasn’t good. Sad considering the acting was good and the plot was good. Just was lacking something.
Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025) Genre: horror/dark comedy Grade: B+ Some thought has been put into this. Has Death teases. Subversive Barbarian (2022): Genre: horror Grade: A On Netflix currently. Pig (2021) Grade: A- Nick Cage and his pig. On Netflix currently
The Spanish Prisoner For a movie that is not supposed to be comedic at all, despite staring Steve Martin, I laughed way too many times. Pretty bad script but I loved the story, even though it was pretty obvious from the start. The late plot twist I suspected but mostly because the actor/script was so bad something just seemed off. They should remake this movie. With good actors.
Mamet is a theater/screenwriting god, but this is the worst of his pieces I've seen....and the main reason is his wife (who can apparently only get work in his productions) is possibly the worst actress I've ever seen. ...and Campbell Scott (god bless him for Singles) was also terrible.
Weirdo doesn’t watch movies anymore for a plot. Just wants assess the ethnicity and sexual orientation of the characters the entire time.
I’ve been traveling for work a lot and kind of re-watching what I consider my favorite/the best movies of all time. I like some movies a lot that I would never put on the list, but this is where I’m at with my current top 10. 1. American History X 2. No Country for Old Men 3. The Dark Knight 4. GoodFellas 5. The Departed 6. Heat 7. Batman Begins 8. Interstellar 9. 28 Days Later 10. Saving Private Ryan
