I think Cam wants to go - and I don't blame him the Rockets are costing him money - he has one to two years to get that next contract, it should have happened here, Ime should have opened up the competition between him and Jalen, but Ime plays favorites, pretty clearly. Let's hope that works out...... Cam, IMHO will be an all star player, a guy that has that much competitive nature usually blows up - he will be fine. Houston, is going to give him away, and if it works out and we get a ring or two then ok, fine. However, if Durant gets hurt and we are looking at Cam and Luka going nuts in LA.....well......that would suck for us fans that saw it coming. DD
the only thing Stone should concern himself with when it comes to the lakers is if their heart tastes better with A1 or just salt & pepper.
@BimaThug if we sign and trade for both Clint and DFS what does this mean for the taxpayer MLE if anything?
With the first apron hard cap, there will be very little room to use the MLE. Maybe they use a sliver of the MLE late in the season to give someone a 3- or 4-year deal. Kind of like what they did with Nate Williams this past season.
Cam is immature. Cam seems unhappy a lot of the time. Cam also has absolutely dynamic potential and is still a baby. Giving him away to the Lakers better get us favorable ping pong balls somewhere down the line because the thought of that happening absolutely SUCKS.
Here's how this works: The prime mover here is almost certainly Cam and his agent. HOU has Cam for basically the minimum under team control for multiple years -- our FO has no urgency otherwise. However, our FO understands Cam's situation and is player friendly and has probably told Cam's agent something like: "Go out and find a new home who will give Cam minutes and usage and we'll accept a fair deal". So this hinges on a) what does our FO consider a minimum "fair deal", and b) what teams would give Cam the opportunity he wants and can make a fair deal. IMO: a) Our FO would consider a minimum "fair deal" to be either a highly protected FRP (unlikely), a real FRP swap, or multiple srp's with real likelihood of being in the 30-40 range. b) Going through the league and eliminating teams who don't have the opportunity to offer and the assets, you're left with: BOS, MIL, CHI, NOP, NYK, PHI, SAC. If it happens I bet it'll be one of those teams. There's also a real likelihood that his agent doesn't find the opportunity and compensation out there that he wants, and he stays in Houston having realized that what he wants doesn't exist for him anywhere.
Lakers were willing to trade first round pick for Mark Williams. If we can get a first round pick that is 2 to 4 years away from Lakers for Cam, I think we should go ahead and include him in the S&T for DFS. There is a chance that Lakers implode if they can't build a good team around Luka and with the on going saga around Lebron demanding trade.
LeBron may be gone as soon as next off-season but if Luka is healthy they'll have a chance at a ring. I'd still be willing to gamble on a future pick about 3 years out being in the lottery.
One thing to keep in mind, and I wish it would change but it is what it is. There are accounts that aren't Rockets fans in here but other fanbases on Clutchfans. So you have to be aware of agendas unfortunately
I’m willing to bet Whitmore never sniffs an all star team. Failing to put any blame on Whitmore may be the most ridiculous thing I’ve read on this forum, and I’ve been lurking here for a long time. He’s a professional in the NBA he should be able to earn PT with a good attitude, defensive and doing the intangibles - which he’s proved time and time unwilling to do. The nba is littered with guys like cam who have all the potential on paper but don’t have what it takes between the ears to succeed.
He is 20, so much immaturity at that age - you have to recognize and nurture the GOOD things he does - and let him grow - that is leadership. No one is ready at 20 - he literally is almost identical in criticism and effort and demeanor as Kobe was at the same age. People just see what is in front of them - this is about the future, not about where he is today.....he has size, skill and competitiveness.....he will be good to great in this league. He will get his shot - probably not here, but it should be.....if we weren't going to play him, we should have never drafted him. I can see his frustration, he had to sit and watch players like FVV and Green **** up all year, without him getting a sniff......had to feel that Ime was a hypocrite, and he is......great coaches put young 19 year olds like Tony Parker on the floor because they know he is GOING to be good, or Kobe Bryant at 20 in the playoffs....you just have to let them grow. The Rockets blew it with him.......simply blew it....and Ime wanting him out instead of coaching him up is the most cowardly bullshit I have seen from a coach - you don't toss talent away because they hold you accountable for being even - you coach em up. I am sure we will get peanuts for him, and he will go on to have a great career like Drazen Petrovich, Steve Nash, Dale Ellis or any other player that was discarded without getting a real look. DD
20 year olds know everything and nothing at all at the same time. Cam needs to grow up but the Rockets don’t need to just give away an asset either. Hopefully some common ground is found and Cam breaks out here.
LeBron definitely won't return next year. Based on the language his agent used, there seems to be a legit falling out between him and the team. I think their chance of winning a championship is extremely low. IMO, it's more likely the Lakers trade LeBron than win a championship. No team is insane enough to offer a 1st round pick for a fruitcake like Cam.
At this point, I say let's just keep him and see if we can make it work. . . . . . That said, he's probably gone by tomorrow.
If Ime was sitting next to you while you were typing “we” - that’s great news! I mean, now that we truly got “all in” for a championship, will Ime actually let Reed have more minutes? It’s just seemed like he didn’t trust him enough last season, when the goal was to bring us back to playoffs. Will he trust him enough next season with higher expectations from the team’s performance? I doubt it. I do agree that the right thing to do is letting both Reed and Cam get minutes off the bench. But it just seems that Ime doesn’t trust them enough..
I'm not meaning zones out like he gets distracted by a fine 22 year old chick, or zoned out because he's thinking about the video game he played this morning...dudes demeanor looks like he's carrying something all his life...could be just mentally he not there
