What hurts most about Cam is that I was hoping to land Brandon Podziemski in that 2023 draft, but we kind of "lucked" into Cam falling to us. Podz has really played admirably in his role with Golden State when asked to complement. High IQ player that is a willing passer, shoots the 3 decently well(was expected to be a 40%+ type like Reed Sheppard), rebounds at a great level for a guard, and can hold his own on defense. Doesn't have the ceiling that Cam has, but he would have fit so well into what we already have. Really struggled when Jimmy Butler and Steph Curry were injured in the playoffs, needs to play off of offensive creators.
Podz would not get any burn under Ime coached. The Warriors are obviously better than us on developing talents. Even their second round scrubs can contribute in playoffs.
This should have been the longest trade rumors since Tate and Ego.....when most of the folks wanted them to go their respective ways.
Basically the Identity is Ime Udoka and Defense. If Ime had a severe illness like his mentor, then the Rox are absolutely done for, have nobody, not even a Mitch Johnson. They acquire an interim like extremely young JBB or worse. Sullivan probably can coach the regular season to the end.
I try to be objective but trading Cam to the Lakers, if he blows up and the Durant move doesn't work is something that can build a case to get people fired. They're going to do whatever they want but there are much better decisions that can happen.
Some speculation online that Lebron (& Bronny) could be part of the expanded KD deal sending Lebron to GS, Jimmy Butler to PHX, & Jalen Green/Dillon Brooks to The Lakers
Wiseman was a bust at #2. Kuminga at #7. They are good at developing mediocre talents into rotation players but strike out with high picks. The "two timelines" idea was a fail.
Unless Houston is getting something additional in return, I don't see why they would help out Golden State or Phoenix. If we have to do this to make salaries work then I get it.
I’m not saying this would totally undo all the great work Stone did this offseason, but sending Cam to the Lakers for nothing is pretty rough.
He's a knucklehead who was in the doghouse before that. You wouldn't like him on this team, and Ime wouldn't play him. And playing better than Jalen in the playoffs is really damning with faint praise. And Jalen was still a much better #2 pick than Wiseman. Rockets haven't had any picks bust half as badly.
The idea wasn't a bust. The picks were. If any tanking team had drafted Wiseman, Moody, and Kuminga, it would have failed as well.
