KD is alright, but we lost our most reliable scorer last season in Jalen and Dillon Brooks lowkey had a fantastic offensive season last year. I think we are going to miss them big time. I like the addition of Finney-Smith and his 41% 3pt shooting but he looked a little stiff off the dribble. Sengun is inefficient. VanVleet is streaky. Amen is more of a transition player. Other than KD, we don’t really have a reliable second option. If we don’t end up with Giannis this offseason, I would be quite disappointed.
Lol.....the thing they lost is edge and who is going to play 78-80 games ..... JG played 82 games, Brooks played 75 games despite being a walking technical..... They traded for players that only play 55-60 games and that is if they are relatively healthy.
Freddy and Sengun can generate offense through pick and roll. I am not sure if Amen will take the next step but it is possible. We just have to hope that KD is healthy in playoffs. I think we can get by during regular season with Freddy, Sengun and Amen if it comes to that.
Expect Sengun to be more efficient. Expect Smith to be more efficient from 3 and get mire shot attempts overall. Expect FVV to hit better from 3. Not to mention anyone else. We are going to be very very good.
This is 100% the risk, we are betting that KD hasn't declined and won't get injured...... Big risk, hope it works. DD
That entirely depends on the guys surrounding KD Does Sengun get back to efficiency? We can’t endure 53TS% from him Does Freds shooting bounce back? Do at least two of Amen, Jabari, Reed, Eason take significant steps forward? Is the team shooting well from 3 as a group? If yes to most of those, if we’re lucky enough for KD to stay healthy and effective most of the year, our offense will be adequate. It’s definitely contingent on a lot of ifs.
The Rockets dumped a draft bust that was one of the worst players on the roster and replaced them with one of the greatest, most efficient scorers of all time. Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks were two of the least efficient scorers in the NBA and the new guys both had TS% over 60 last season. To say this thread is stupid and just another b**** fit by a Jalen fan would be an understatement.
If Sengun has to play defense, I expect him to be the same as last yr.....its about his endurance level! Im expecting for KD to play HOPEFULLY between 55 - 60 games. Which is why Im expecting a lot more from Jabari and Reed. With all of that being said, the key to me, whether or not Ime likes it or not, is going to be Cam Whitmore! We all know Cam is a walking bucket, he has to PLAY to makeup the difference in what we lost.
Dumb post...KD is an upgrade from Jalen Green from an offensive standpoint. Jalen Green was our iron man, but that's somewhat overrated because he sucked in the last 2 weeks of the season when he was the only starter playing while we rested everyone else. Honestly, Tari Eason will be an upgrade from Dillon Brooks - he has that edge and can shoot the ball as well when given the minutes. Reed is our wild card...I think he's going to do well next season for he will have the greenlight to shoot the ball. I hope we can convince Cam to accept his role for I think he can have a big part of our team when we rest KD...Cam is instant offense and we could use his scoring when KD is inevitable to miss games...
If Amen, Alpi, Jabari, Tari and Reed all flatline, your concern could be legit. This is unlikely. If there is improvement in that group, the offense will be fine. If two or three of those guys level up, great things will happen.
When talking about offense, putting KD, Brooks and Jalen in the same sentence is wild to me. KD is alright. What. I think as far as primary options, we will be just fine with KD replacing Jalen as the primary option. Kidding aside, I have serious doubts. Not picking up a creator or scorer is very questionable to me. We lost to the Warriors due to horrible offensive output and not defense yet we load up on defensive players. Hopefully Reed, Amen and Cam, if he is still on the team, have breakout seasons.
They were middle of the pack in scoring last season and got better offensively. Yes, that was due in large part to their absurd offensive rebounding rate. But they should still be very good in that area, and they just added one of the greatest offensive players in NBA history. Plus, you have to expect at least a moderate offensive improvement from some, if not most, of the young core. If Reed enters the rotation and is a serviceable rotational guy, he should be an excellent edition on that end. My only knock is that I would have liked to see us add another playmaker in the backcourt. But I think it speaks to how much they respect Reed. If they didn't think he could be that primary offensive driver off the bench, they would have added somebody. Bottom line, though, I think we should expect the team to at least be slightly better offensively next season.
The bet isn't that KD hasn't declined tho - that's certainly not the right metric. The bet is that KD's performance, whether static or declining, (1) is better than Jalen's and more importantly (2) has an overall effect on the system (including gravity) that improves team offensive output. Right? I just think you would be very hard pressed to find folks around the league who think we haven't improved on the offensive end. At some metaphysical level there is risk in anything - so I guess you could say there's risk here - but that's not how we'd ordinarily use the word.
Sengun is gonna feast with smart offensive players that move great offball. KD and Amen are pretty elite at that. Then you have spot up shooters in Jabari and Fred set up ready for the hockey assist.
Calling Jalen Green a reliable scorer is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. The whole reason he was traded is because he was incredibly inconsistent and unreliable. We replace him with one of the best scorers in NBA history and you still find a way to cry about it? I'm not surprised.
I think the key is Sheppard taking a big step forward this year. A lot depends on Durant’s health, too.
