And much cheaper! Imagine getting Lopez and Trent Jr + have space for a Coby White. That’s what this contract + Capela is.

Big signing that will bolster the Rockets. He is a better Dbrooks. Upgrade.

And we got him below market.

    Stone is cooking.

He is a better rebounder and passer than Dillon, but I think Dillon has a bit more left in the tank defensively--both players have lost a step, but DFS a little moreso I think. Maybe a step and a half. Dillon also has a bit more 1-on-1 shot creation. But for our purposes, I think DFS is a good replacement since he won't demand starter minutes or pick up a zillion technicals and get himself suspended.

    Fair point.

I also understood his bigger point: you want your "stars" to take game winning shots.

I am also of the school that everybody better stay ready if those stars are double / triple teamed.

Lmao I guess KD is going after more players. Snake is back.

He knew LBJ and Nash were looking for role players.....

That is Voldemort language for total disrespect but that is the old school NBA thinking.

It’s been written. The Rockets win the chip next year with Durant throwing a bail out pass to the corner and Dorian Finney Smith knocks down the game winning three as the shot clock expires.

Didn't know DFS played CENTER for the Nets two years ago when Claxton was injured

Can we include this as part of the deal for Durant? Like, if Stone knew that he would be signing DFS, did that influence his thinking on what to include in the Durant trade?

I was fairly opposed to trading for Durant before. I don't like him, he's too old, he hasn't been a winning player despite playing with other stars since GSW? But when I saw what we got him for, I felt like we had to take the chance on it.
The fact that we were able to replace Brooks with DFS, in my mind, makes that trade even better. I haven't watched DFS to really know how they compare, but I think the two players would be considered almost like a lateral move, more or less?

Which means we definitely got older, but we basically sent out one first round pick and 5 second round picks to switch Jalen Green for Kevin Durant. We can make a serious run over the next two years, and still have enough young players and picks to preserve the future for now. That's a great offseason in my mind!

This is an OK signing. Would have rather just spent the full MLE on NAW, who is a better player, but maybe he didn't want to come to Houston. I disagree that he is better than Brooks (who I am not that high on anyway) as some have said but if he can be more efficient and play within his role better that would be good. Good Tari insurance also.

A little worried about a drop-off, role players tend to decline in their early 30s. The back half of the contract could look bad, but good depth signing.

I think he's really taking a dump on how we used to play with Morey.

So just to be clear, we’ve confirmed that 4th yr of the DFS contract is non-guaranteed?
