Man Cam starting is a huge stretch. Laughable in fact.

Outside of a SG who can not shoot.

Amen needs to get his shooting sorted. I just don't see Ime putting Amen as SG and giving him as much time as needed to figure it out.

    We will see.

There’s no way they paid Jabari that contract and he doesn’t start.

    FVV—Reed
    Amen—Cam
    KD—DFS
    Jabari—Tari
    Sengun—Adams—Capela

Then that leaves end of the bench with Tate, Green and Holiday.

Throw in unexpected injuries and we’re really well set.

Which is why you keep seeing so many proposed trades we could still do for a star. Personally I think they stand pat but I get it.

I’m not so hung up on the shooting guard position because honestly in today’s NBA, positions really are just titles.

As long as you have at least 2 shooters on the court at all times we should be good.

Crunch time final 2 mins I could easily see:

    FVV
    Amen
    KD
    Jabari
    Adams

For defensive purposes alone. I know Sengun fans don’t wanna hear it but that’s probably Ime’s vision.

The only place you have Amen on this list is 3rd string PG??? —- he’s the starting 2, obviously. ——Only place for Tari on your list is 3rd string 3????

    Your list needs work.
    —————————-

    Fred/Reed/Amen/Holiday

    Amen/Tari/DFS/Fred

    KD/DFS/Tari

    Jabari//KD/Alpi (two big, every game)

    Alpi/Adams/Capela
    ————————-
The caveat being that there’s a scenario where Amen becomes the full-time starting point guard and then you have Fred as the full-time two.

Maybe. Durant looked like he was handling the same type of responsibilities on defense as JSJ did for the Rockets when I watched him last season. Granted, I wasn't an avid Suns watcher.

Tim Hardaway jr would be ideal on vet contract? Cam insurance?

Yeah Cam must be getting a promotion, cause we have no guards.

    DFS is a back 4, or 3.

I guess Amen is a the SG/SF 2-Way Rim Attacker

Idk if the Rockets want to move Sengun, an All-Star, rightfully so, from Center to Power Forward, that's what I wonder.

Off topic, so right now we have what? 14 GTD deals now, barring a trade?

    C Alperen Sengun
    C Steven Adams
    C Clint Capela
    PF Jabari Smith Jr.
    PF Dorian Finney-Smith
    PF Jeff Green
    SF Kevin Durant
    SF Tari Eason
    SF Jae'Sean Tate
    SG Amen Thompson
    SG Cam Whitmore
    PG Fred VanVleet
    PG Aaron Holiday
    PG Reed Sheppard

Leaves us with C Jock Landale, & SG Nate Williams as Non-GTD deals, plus the Exhibit-10 deal for PF Cameron Matthews, & 2-way deal for PF David Roddy, & tender to C N'Faly Dante, wonder if they'll have to have just 14 of the 15 active roster spots allowed? Plus of course the 3 2-Way's we'll have, I believe the Rockets went most of 2024-2025 with 14 active + 3 2-Way's till they signed Nate Williams to a multiyear deal.

Also I checked SalarySwish.com, they list DFS as a PF/SF, can he also play SG, I don't watch much non-Rockets NBA games to know for sure.

This is what I'm thinking on Jabari, no way he gets $24.4M and sits on the bench.

Also looking back on the last 5-10yrs, DFS' deal at $13.25M AAV may have been starting money, but now that seems to be 6th man/backup role, maybe that's me TBH.

I also wonder what the Rockets plan is with Tari Eason, they have to want to extend him, but the whole Giannis rumors, idk what it'd take to get Giannis, besides Sengun & 1st rd picks, idk how the NBA cap works.

Hopefully he will be playing PG on offense and FVV plays spot up shooter in the corner. Amen is going to be a superb creator this year and his mid-game is going to explode.

    Sengun/Aquaman/Cap
    Durant/Sengun/Jabari
    Finney/Jabari/Eason
    Amen/Eason
    Fvv/Bolivian Cocaine Curry
    Plus the stay ready crew.

30 FGAs left with the Green and Brooks trade. 24 came back in w/ Durant and Finney. That means 6 more shots available. 2 each for Amen and Alpi and 2 more for whoever else wants them.

Having a good sense of the Ime trends, Finney will be the starter 27ish minutes. He takes less shots than Villain while filling in for Villain's previous role which was pivotal to his scheme.
Jabari and Eason would be the only ones with experience at putting the ball in the basket for 13 pts.

I also expect them to sub out Sengun at the 6 minute mark to get Reed and Alpi to play together at the start of the 2nd quarter. It was a thing November- December last season.

No one should play over 30 minutes. Be smart Rafael. Protect Durant.

Amen was 1st Team All Defense last year while only starting half the year. He plays for a coach who values defense above all else. If you do not have Amen in your starting lineup, go ahead and throw your list away and try again.

    I think it's obvious guys.

    Durant is our 6th man.

The spacing on the rockets is different now. You have durant and Bari and occasional FVV as shooters. Amen and Sengun work together fine.

I need clutchfans to get it out of their
collective heads that the we need a 6-4 guard to be complete.

We’ve got Alpi, KD, and Amen as our offensive hubs. They’re going to generate all of our shots and we need guys out on the perimeter that can hit threes based on those shots created. It doesn’t matter what size they are.

Offensively, teams need shot creators, and people who can knock down stand till threes.

Defensively, teams need switchability and size.

The Rockets have all of that.

Rosters are not built the way they were 10 years ago. We don't have an SG problem.

This puts your SG in the dunker’s spot (and not on the 3 point line) where the number of touches varies dramatically game to game.

5 out and 4 out are not featured in modern NBA offenses.

    Good to know.
