I was against it at first but I wouldn’t mind seeing EG back in a Rockets uniform next to Clint. EG > Williams but would understand if they chose to retain Williams instead. Younger, hungrier and more upside than Gordon at this point in his career. It would also give Cam a clear chance for back up 2 minutes.
The number 1 thing I want to see this remaining offseason is a Tari Eason extension, and we should be concerned we haven't heard anything about it yet. Pay the man
Ridiculous if we let him go, his BPM/VORP/WS48 are all elite. He should be a bigger priority than Bari, but yes he has injury concerns. IMO it's more important than anything else we can do.
Think they're first waiting on the Durant trade becoming official on July 6th and his subsequent extension.
Why should we be concerned? Alpy and Jalen didn’t get extended until almost the start of camp last year, iirc. Jabari’s extension came unusually early this year.
As fans we don’t know what they are still cooking. We also don’t know is Tari’s prognosis when it comes to long-term health. Neither are going to share it and may be why they haven’t extended him.
Bol Bol, Melton, Bryant pique my interest But as party pooper @J.R. pointed out, little to no cap room and I don't think roster spots
That Capela signing (and some of the other garbage taking roster spots @Snow Villiers ) 3rd string center Going into the tax for a 3rd string center Gonna be hard capped anyways(DFS) but no flexibility Spoiler hE’S NoT A 3rD StRiNg cEnTeR! hE’S ThE BaCkUp cEnTeR, sPlItTiNg tImE WiTh aDaMs! So gonna pay the tax now and when their “actual” stars (not these old guys) hit their prime in 1/2/3/whatever years, gonna cut costs “Repeater tax is no joke! We gotta get out of it!” Taxes and aprons and restrictions and can’t do this and can’t do that.
Our team got a whole lot better with Durant instead of Jalen, and we have better 3 PT shooters now. The best part is that Reed, Thompson, and Jabari are going to be even better this year. Mark my words on that. The only downside is that Sengun, Adams, and Clint all s*ck at free throws and 3 PT shots, and that isn't gonna change. On the bright side, we have lots of depth now with all our bigs. It will be interesting to see the rotations we use.
We literally have the most efficient shooting guard in the game - Kevin Durant. He will be the 2 on offense, and guard the weakest wing on defense. Amen/Tari/DFS will be the reverse - front court on offense, backcourt on defense. Some of you are obsessing about having a 2, ignoring the fact that Durant plays the 2 despite being a 7-footer. That’s also why Phoenix didn’t work - three different 2-guards, but without the wing defenders to swap on the other end.
Plenty of time to get the Tari deal done. If you recall last year, the Jalen and Alpi extensions did not get done until hours before the extension deadline towards the end of the offseason.
