that's the conclusion I have too. Also Holiday is a serviceable backup SG even though he’s undersized. Don’t trust him at the point though. So it’s up to Reed.
With Ime here I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if 20 games into the season we move Jabari to the bench to start Adams or Capela. For 3 offseasons and 2 deadlines now Ime keeps acquiring or trying to acquire C's and that tells me he's not really believing in Sengun as a C. The double big lineup also indicated to me that he sees Sengun as a PF. I don't think he'll be ecstatic with Jabari's ability to guard SF's either. I'm not saying I support it, but I really wouldn't put it past him.
Holiday is listed as 6'0-6'1, even too short as a PG. I would not call players serviceable, I would call the situation demands to have players play positions they wouldn't normally play.
Do you really think that recently signed 25m a year Jabari is going to the bench so that 13m a year DFS can start? DFS was a great signing and can play multiple positions off the bench.
Here’s what ESPN thinks it looks like: I don’t think Tari starts over Jabari, and would put Reed ahead of Holiday. It’s crazy that a sports media enterprise with the resources ESPN has just throws darts to get a depth chart done.
ESPN is the absolute worst source for predictions. They don’t pay attention to anybody outside of star players and Coastal teams. They are really only good for box scores and reporting on what has already occurred.
You can swing this lineup with Cam when Durant rests. FVV/Reed Cam Amen/Tari DFS/Bari Sengun If Cam is going to maximize his skills, he needs to play as a guard rather than a forward. Yes, he can cover forwards, but his real advantage is as a SG. There, he can use his size and strength to the fullest. It's crazy that this lineup is our team "going small."
I am yet to see every depth option listed by anyone, but @J.R. alluded to it. We will be a large, shapeshifting monster next year. With maybe the best 7ft shooter of all time. Oh let’s count the ways!
Minutes Distribution Alpe (30) - Aquaman (9) - CCap (9) some days Aquaman gets more or Capela gets more (load management) Bari (30) - Tari (19) - Unc (1) KD (26) - DFS (18) - Tate (2) Amen(32) - Cam (16) - Nate (0) FVV (28) - Reed (18) - Holiday (2) Rox 94: FVV - DFS - KD - Bari - Alpe Run & Fun: Reed - Amen - Cam - Tari - Aquaman / CCap
The guard depth chart is whack, but I think the SF starter is interesting. Tari was ahead of JSJ in the rotation at the end of the season and started when he was healthy and Amen was not. DFS allowed LeBron to play PF last season. Considering Brooks (I think DFS is different, but better than Brooks) started last season over Tari and JSJ, I just don't think who starts at SF is all that clear at the moment.
I agree. Cam needs to play guard. I doubt it’s for us, but he could become a very affective SG if he can learn to play team ball on both sides of the court.
How about? C - Sengun - Adams - Capela - Jabari PF - Amen - Jabari - Sengun - Tari - Green the Elder SF - KD - DFS - Tari - Amen - Tate SG - Cam - Sheppard - Holiday PG - FVV - Sheppard - Amen Amen ended the season as the starting 4.
Agreed, which is why I prefer to break it down this way, Regular rotation guys: Centers: Alpi, Adams Forwards: KD, Jabari, Tari, DFS, [Amen] Guards: FVV, Amen, Reed, [DFS] Others: Holiday, Tate, Uncle Jeff, Cam, Capela, TBD
I just want to see this 6'7+ lineup at some point. Who needs shooters when you have KD? C - Adams PF - Sengun SF - Jabari SG - KD PG - Amen
I think he meant to refer to my post. I don't think JSJ starting is set in Stone. I think DFS, Tari, and JSJ are the options as the 5th starter. I'd start Tari, I think Stone wants JSJ to start, and I think Ime will pick DFS. I listed DFS as the top option on my depth chart as I think Ime will trump Stone.
Only because jalen was at 2 and brooks 3. Amen is going to be the starting 2. There is no debate on it
To start KD is going to start at SF and Jabari at PF. Durant is underrated as a defensive player by this board. Our defense is going to be better than ever and our second unit should not see much drop off. DFS and Tari could be the new terror twins. Just to be sure we should add one good combo guard and then we are a championship level roster. If we don’t and Reed steps up we still could be. We now have insurance at every position except SG. As currently constructed either Reed or Cam(?) has to have a monster upswing in effectiveness to get us within striking distance of OKC.
