He has a player option in the 4th year that is only partially guaranteed Similar to Duncan Robinson this year, 20 mill player option, only 10 mill guaranteed
I don’t recall us receiving anything of value for Harden. The value was in the picks and new flexibility. Throw in Reed. He won’t play over Holiday anyhow.
I am not a fan of this signing tbh, but for MLE whatever I guess. I wanted someone younger like NAW, Grimes, Ty Jerome etc I am not that impressed with DFS I remember Lakers were hyping him up as the missing piece and he was just alright in the playoffs, nothing crazy.
Great replacement for Dillon. I’d really like to stay under the tax so we can delay starting the repeater clock…
A couple of thoughts of adding a wing instead of a guard: 1) DFS is a more stout 6'7 SF/PF 3&D in the mold of Dillon or PJ Tucker. He allows some flexibility and depth for the front court. 2) I think the Rockets prefer to have more wings and bigger overall team. For ball handling and playmaking, I think FVV, Durant, Amen, Reed, and Sengun will share responsibilities.
Grimes wants 25 a year and all reports are Ty wants to start. Plus he might not look the same on this team. He was surrounded by offensive talent in Cleveland. Offensive talent doesn’t describe Houston.
Like I said I am still not that sold on it based on what I've seen of him. At least DFS is also insurance for Tari and Tate in case negotiations break down.
The hardcap was triggered by using the NT-MLE. Now, we cannot let total team salary exceed the first apron for the rest of the season. I do not think it means we reached the first apron threshold, but that we are limited by the first apron. Meaning we can only have a cap up to that first apron number. Believe that number may be 179 million, but not entirely sure.
Tap the breaks. He’s a depth piece. A solid addition to the second unit with Adams and Tari. A bit pricey. Has averaged 65 games the past 3 years. A PF whose career rebound average is 4.5! Live in Fort Worth, casual watcher of Mavs games. While here he was solid, but not a difference maker.
