I wouldn't say they don't believe in it, but they have a cheat code in Amen that affords them the luxury to play a long wing who can still guard small/quick guys at a high level and otherwise the rest of the wings they have can shoot well enough to space the floor(aside from Amen). I think like a lot of teams, the goal is to get the tallest, most skilled players possible - the days of size archetypes dictating position and skill set are long gone - our two tallest starters will be our best shooters in Durant and Jabari. That would have never happened in the days of the size/position archetypes. Houston still lacks a true 3 level scorer - Durant has fallen off at getting shots at the rim as he aged but otherwise this is a super solid team and I think Houston continues to keep feelers out for acquiring a 3 level scorer at some point - maybe that will be a SG, maybe it's another wing(Trey Murphy III?) but it's not likely "because we need a SG" to your point.
Dfs is a good screener. He helps our offense just the same being a solid 3nD. I imagine a good sized jump from Reed. All signs show complete faith in him being a primary rotation player
Why does everyone keep putting him at 33 years old? He's 32. Just turned 32. Every year does make a difference.
I really don't see the issue here, vet player, 3 and D, fills a need. I think the team is pretty well balanced and looks to be a deep team with his addition. As for PG I think the team is banking on Reed's growth to contribute good minutes when called upon. I do think though the idea that Cam is going to do much here probably dies with this move. I hope we can get something for him.
Seems like there's enough smoke to indicate this is mostly a done deal. The only question I have left is who's the 3rd string center. If we are assuming Cam is being traded that leaves one last spot for minimum contract. Will be interested to know if there's an established vet willing to take a minimum to be on a contender here.
Yes, he's a real 3 and D player. 8.7ppg on 44.8% shooting is not bad for a player who goes all out on defense and hustles. All Defense lineup: Adams KD DFS Eason Thompson Then you just let KD ISO in every play; PNR with Adams and Thompson slashing. Eason and DFS stay in the corners. Am I right?
I'll never take issue with adding 3-and-D wings. Doesn't have the shot creating capabilities of Brooks but brings the same toughness and none of the antics.
