I mean this is obviously the move. Lakers need a center, GSW could use one. I think the guy is clearly a bust so its whatever. Seeing how badly PHX wanted to get rid of him and then now seeing Portland basically tell him to go away, that's two teams...
Not an Ayton fan but but he’s far from a bust. He averages 16.5 points and 10.5 boards for his career. He was productive in PHX until the Monty Williams fall out and the Blazers were a weird fit. There’s a reason why INDY offered him the largest contract at the time and phoenix matched even if it was an overpay. He’ll be a major asset for the Lakers or some other playoff team/contender.
Yep, he would easily average 20 and 11 if he actually cared more about getting better than getting paid. His non love for the game only makes him a role player.
If he were the #14 pick or something sure, but he was a #1 pick, two teams have basically pushed him out. PHX wanted to get rid of him so bad they attached picks to him. Portland is basically releasing him. Apparently, he has a bit of an attitude and doesn't like criticism and doesn't care to improve. Which...not sure LA will be the best place for him Also, that draft was pretty strong, there are several perennial all-stars in the lottery alone picked after him and two MVP tier players. So the fact that two teams have gotten rid of him makes him a bust. If PHX still had him and he was doing that, I'd agree, but I feel like multiple teams getting rid of a top 5 pick kinda makes said player a bust. I think the next team he's on will be the last team that is intrigued by him, after this season if he's still not shown growth he's no longer going to have that 'potential' tag to him and he'll likely just become a journeyman big...which, I think is a bust when talking about any top 3 pick in a draft...but yeah, I'm sure he'll have a spot on a team he's decent. I just don't think Lakers or any team adding him is going to change much.
Ayton is gonna beast this season, if I had guys that could set up lobs I would be all over him. He's a classic contract year player. Secure the bag one more time and then he can retire. I would love to have him next season, wouldn't want any part of being the team that becomes his retirement home.
Agreed. Someone that won't demand the ball much and plays damn decent defense Want no part of him He comes off as kind of Lazy Has not improved one bit. . . i'll take Clint Capela over him Rocket River
I agree. JHarden got FAR MORE than I expected Get Your Money homie . . . . Pass That would be best for him and them Though Capela is probably a better fit Rocket River
Ayton seems to have 3 choices IMO: Lakers, Hornets, or Pelicans. These teams need a starting caliber center badly. I would bet Hornets as they could be a likely playoff team in the East in a year where Celtics, Pacers, and Bucks are in a gap year for financial and injury reasons. Plus this is essentially a contract year for Ayton and he is looking for the best opportunity to get paid. Cavs Knicks Magic Hawks Pistons 76ers Heat Hornets Plus it would be less pressure playing for Hornets rather than a LeBron/Luka led Lakers. The Pelicans are my dark horse candidate but they did use a lot of capital to draft Queen.
