Ime Udoka would only play Bol Bol in garbage time because in order to earn minutes you have to be locked in and not a turnstile on defense. Ask Suns fans what they think of Bol Bol's defense.
Why is a 7 foot SG supposedly a good thing? There's no way in hell they're as quick, agile or able to defend regular SG's, like seriously go watch any 7footer not named Wemby guard a legitimate star level 2 guard, the guard smiles, laughs and COOKS them with ease. So you gotta ask yourself, why is a dude this big not playing the 4/5? It's because he gets absolutely manhandled against the real star players that size. HARD ****ING PASS.
kd, alpy, fred, adams, tari n bari have all typically missed time with injuries. jalen and brooks were our 2 ironmen in the rotation. and kd turning 37 is a further concern, “father time undefeated”.. so udoka’s moves could propel us to contender status or just blow up in his face should kd miss even more games than last season. this was clearly udoka’s call to go in this direction, as opposed to trading jalen for a younger guy for instance. and i’m not condemning it for now, just acknowledging that we have a couple seasons to make it work while praying he stays healthy
The difference is that you can point to the reasons why with KD. Bol Bol is not Kevin Durant, or bootleg KD, or wish KD, or fake KD you hire for kid's parties. As a fully matured player KD plays 3/4 and almost no 2, why is that? "Playing at times" is irrelevant data if it hasn't happened for the majority of his career. Bol Bol's not getting minutes anywhere, if you have to play him at 2 just to give him half a chance then there's a reason for that, and it isn't one of dominance/advantage.

Probably draft another Wembanyama and you raise your starting lineup's height to all 7 footers. Udoka would want to be a 7 footer himself and he wished it on his birthdays.
