Starter (39 Games): .413 / .346 / .826 Bench (18 Games): .492 / .372 / .824 So many people want Jabari to expand his game (beyond his capabilities imo) when it seems pretty obvious that the way to best utilize him is to simplifiy and reduce his role.
Agree - the idea to give him more isolation touches is absurd. He shot well but that’s only because he only was able to shoot when wide open - the rest of the time, he was turning the ball over (more turnovers than Jalen for ****s sake). He’s a face up shooter on the perimeter who relies entirely on others to set him up - the only shots he should be getting are in the flow of others isolating. I swear some people on here have constructed a massive Disney fantasy about Jabari where he’s set to break out Linsanity style if only we run plays for him. Utter delusion.
If you take away the first 15 games of the season when he shot poorly, he was shooting .444 from 3 as a starter until the injury. He started to struggle again after coming back from injury as a backup and then bounced back to shoot much better. I don't think it's about starting or coming off the bench or about larger or smaller role. Jabari just seems to need a long runway to take off.
If he was 25-26 finished product but what is he, 22? I would give him (on the Rockets or on another team) another 2 years to figure it out.
I'm sure Jabari will have a very long runaway yet again this year and we'll see what he does with it.
watching this KD interview and realizing that 15 years from now Jabari will still be ending every other sentence with "know what I'm sayin"
This chart is what gives me hope for Jabari. 18/9 on 40% from 3 and I’ll take that for the next 6 years!
I watched that a while back and it's an awesome watch and how different the truly elite in the NBA are, how differently they think, etc. (probably) than the average NBA player (or any human in any field).
Jabari needs a highly structured system to play with in. The more his role is defined the better he will play. He needs to know/fill where and when to be. Hopefully he will learn to play off of the dominant players around him then learn when insert himself as a trusted finisher.
But this summer he's been talking about creating his own shot and playing with a higher motor. I love the second goal but the first one may never happen for him.
Him being a creature is the last thing needed from him on this team as it is currently constructed. We NEED players that are finishers & with high motors is like next level.
I thought I knew basketball. 60 seconds of Nash and LeBron talking tactics left me totally in the dust. I didn't even have the vocabulary.
They're....professionals. It'd be like someone who built a deck one time talking to me about building codes.
We forgot that 89% happens behind closed doors we have no chance of knowing about.....if we were NBA players we wouldn't be here. Filmroom vocabulary.
Haven't bothered to do the breakdown, but this seems to be exactly what you'd expect when you'd take the minutes that Jalen & Jabari play together - which primarily came as starters vs other starting units vs when they come off the bench and/or play against less good bench units.
