So if we think the rockets intentionally put this out after the draft, what is the motivation? Is it to make sure all other 29 teams know he’s available? Maybe. But seems to me they could just reach out to teams directly. So what is the strategy? Is it just as simple as getting the word out? Are they trying to send a message to Cam? If we don’t trade him this is certainly not setting up well as far as relationship dynamic for next season. Anyone have any insight on this?

    KD can't play 48 mins a game.
We need someone to step up on offense after resting KD.

The ridiculous thing is Ime still thinking how to sacrifice offense to strengthen the defense. Lol

    Our defense is already elite.

But Ime is still trying to trading offensive player for defense... lol

Hopefully it’s for the Raptors, lol.

Keep Cam or trade him for already disgruntled CBM.

We will be in offense drought when KD sitting on the bench.

I am sure it will happen.

KD definitely will miss some games next season.

Who will be our main scorer then?

I think Ime needs to embrace the idea of letting Cam give the opponent's second unit hell for 6-7 minutes at a time while starters rest, and just accept that maybe Cam won't be an elite team defender.

Don't let him close games, just let him wreck havoc on the opposing team's second unit. Who are they going to sign who can dump points on the kind of scrubs playoff teams often have in their second units?

The way to use Cam is to force the other team to re-insert their starters before they want to by lighting up their trash bench unit.

Don't try to turn Cam into the perfect starter. Turn him into a weapon of chaos, which is where his talents shine.

We could possibly get a win now guy AND a future asset for Cam?

There are a heap of ways that might work. Trade Cam for a pick. Then sign a ring chaser at vet min who can come in as a gunslinger off the bench.

Cam can go out with no player returning immediately, but still the option to add someone before the end of summer.
    - a buyout candidate to clear waivers and then make an offer (eg Beal?)
    - take someone into the MLE space
    - help another team shed salary (up to 5ish Mill) by packaging Nate

    Exactly this.

    LOL Wants more ****ing defense.

    Scores 85, 89, 93, 106 in 4/7 playoff games … “we need more defense.”

"There's a contract that they have as well—a player in Cam Whitmore, young player with talent that has gotten interest around the league as well," Charania explained. "That's someone that you could, if you're the Rockets, you could potentially move him for draft capital or a player that can help you now."

Charania indicated the Rockets are particularly interested in pursuing a defensive-minded wing player that helps them replace Dillon Brooks, who was part of their trade package for Durant.

"If they are going to go into free agency, if they are going to look into trades, I think a player that's kind of the ilk of a Dillon Brooks—a wing-type player that can kind of shore up that spot—that could be of interest for the Rockets," the ESPN insider said.

KD been slacking off on defense. Not sure if he will commit to play on both ends. I don't expect them to give it all in regular season. But we are invest to win in next 2 years, so he better be ready in playoff. If not, pray Brooklyn and Phoenix both suck in 2027.

I didn't say they were doing that. I said it's stupid to tell people you're shopping him if you are shopping him. That's just going to get back offers, kind of like with KD. This organization has trouble keeping their mouths shut about a lot of things. They told everyone they wanted Jalen and same thing with Reed. They can tell people they want to trade Cam but if they think that's going to up the offers they get then they don't really know what they're doing.

They could trade Cam for a win-now piece. Trading him for a pick doesn't really help us at all. The tweet sounds like people are calling Houston about Cam and we are listening. Maybe they want people to know he's available as part of a package for a star. He's not being traded just to get rid of him, that doesn't make sense.

I will gladly take a good future first rounder for Cam Whitmore. The Rockets need future assets to plug holes as they come along.

There is zero reason to trade him then, he is a future asset and an arriving asset.

The logic of this breaks down everywhere, more than likely teams called ABOUT him during the draft and are trying to get him on the cheap.....

Honestly, if Cam breaks out, Stone and Ime should be fired, their job, their literal job is to develop and identify the keepers, they did a good job with Jalen - let's see how they handle the rest of the roster.

I understand this logic, but if they trade him for good value and he doesn't break out then should they be applauded? These guys know the players better than anyone, its easy to judge from the outside.

If they trade him they need to bring in a big wing that can shoot 3s above 40% - and hopefully someone under 30.....

Not everything they have done has worked out - Stone has done a great job contractually but he picked Jalen over Mobley - we also missed on TyTy, Garuba, Josh Christopher etc.....and we have held onto mediocrity in players like Tate, and they wanted to start A rim runner over Sengun.....so, there are plenty of mistakes to be had, that being said still happy with Stone.

Ime, I know he is a good coach, but I have seen him be outcoached, so I am hoping he learns to play guys that are offensively gifted over guys that are pure defense...at least get a balance.

Last year we left 3 guys that shot over 40% on 3s since January in Reed, Holiday and Cam on the bench and we couldn't score with GS, and it cost us the series.....so I am a believer but I don't know if Ime is a good coach or a GREAT one.......GREAT ones can reach and get the best out of all types of players, good ones win regular season games but fall apart against great ones....JVG is an example, Tom Thibedeaux another one.

So, I hope Ime grows.....there is room to.

In game 7 when they had only 39 points at halftime, I knew they were done.

If they bring in a defense first wing, we are done as well - we have Tari and Amen - we don't need another defensive oriented player.

If Ime is pushing for this he is simply not a great judge of what it takes to win a ring.

And, it is why the guy that followed him in Boston started playing Pritchard when Ime wouldn't and he won a ring with those same players.

Coach em up Ime, it is literally your DAMNED JOB!

What needs to be understood here is that none of us are currently in training and no one knows exactly what kind of attitude Whitmore brings to work every day. There's no doubt he has talent, but this team runs a system and Cam often doesn't follow it, and more so on the defensive side, his mentality is only to shoot, shoot, shoot, and as far as I'm concerned, this is teamwork.
