All the best teams in the league have a mix. OKC and Indy specially. SGA is the definition of half court/slow down/iso ball. OKC Pace was 100, ours was 99. 1 possession difference.
Nah OKC actually avoids being put in a strict Half court because that is not their forte or style.... They are at their best, getting deflections, stocks and feast on Turnovers ...... If OKC figured out how to play Halfcourt, they would smash the Haliburtons in 5..... KFC, UFC, USC… OKC in 5
I prefer high IQ move the ball fast. Similar to Pacers offense. But it's not happening with KD/Sengun/FVV.
as always... i dont think it has to be an either/or proposition... We got a few that can run, so give them the quick release and look for em on an outlet pass... if a quick hoop isnt there, then u pull it back out and set-up your halfcourt offense as everybody else gets into place... idk why people like to paint themselves into a corner... wanna play smallball? OK... but maybe have a big on the bench as the situation may dictates... wanna shoot a bunch of 3's? OK... but maybe have some inside plays in your pocket if they aint falling on any given night... wanna get a superstar? OK... but maybe dont run your entire offense through him 24/7 if he's having an off night... wanna play a limited rotation? OK... but maybe make an adjustment if somebody is having an off night... it's all just shortcuts to actually thinking and adjusting depending on the situation... of course, in the words of MDA... "We don't adjust to them - they adjust to us!" No Mike u didnt, and yes they did... and thats why u aint got no rings! lol
KD is often ball stopper trying to play iso. Sengun often wait for movement before making a move himself.
the Suns were 21st in pace this season and played slower than us Suns were also 28th in fast break points u just lie and make sh*t up all the time with zero shame it’s embarrassing
Let’s wait til we see our halfcourt offense before we judge it. One still has to run an actual offense. Boston had Tatum, Brown, Brogdon and Horford and their offense still was mad average at best under Ime. Learn from Phoenix . Just because you have superior offensive talent doesn’t automatically mean the offense solves its self. Houston was statistically a better offense than Phoenix last year. It’s not as simple as throw Durant in there and we’re good. we have to run an actually offense
I think we are a pretty versatile team, especially if Reed and Cam can earn consistent minutes of the bench.
SGA is about the only guy apart from perhaps Harty, Caruso, and sometimes Chet that may play a little Half court. All the others are best in Transition and when the Opponent has not set their Defense. Also SGA gets a good portion of his foul drawings when the Opponent is semi set and not totally set. A lot comes from Chaos.
KD is a finisher. If people move, Alp won’t have to wait. KD gravity will help with lanes for movement
Why do we need to run? It's literally the stupidest coaching direction we could take. Good teams lean into their strengths, you want to do the complete total opposite because of your stupid narrative about Sengun you've been pushing for 4 years. Newsflash, KD and Sengun are going to make anything we ever did "at pace" look like the absolute trash tier "offense" it truly was.
I'm really sorry, but you should do some research. You might be making yourself look silly? Houston transition possessions per game: 21.0 Suns transition possessions per game: 16.7 So, per that and the previous numbers, Durant will have even MORE opportunity to improve our transition game. We traded chalk for chocolate here. Seriously, just taste the chocolate, it is far more edible than the chalk.
And the most dominant regular season team still got taken to 7 games by teams they should have, on paper, smoked.
