It's mostly for asset management--if he plays poorly next season, then we would have lost value on a promising young player; if he plays well, then we are in a bit of a pickle in terms of whether/how much to extend him for. Makes sense to trade him for a proven vet with our MLE space or shuffle him for a rookie on a longer term controlled contract plus maybe a second rounder or two.

I would prefer to keep Cam, but if they are going to trade him I would look into trying to pry CMB from Toronto because he didn’t look like he wanted to be drafted there.

If we keep cam and don’t play him what’s the point. Either trade him or play him

you expand the KD trade before 7/6

    Cam + Jock = 11,379,080
    Jalen + Dillon = 56,588,826

    all 4 combined = 67,967,906

x 125% (allowed for trade purposes)

    =84,959,882.5

    KD= 54,708,608
    Collin= 18,975,000
    Kevin Durant + Collin Sexton = 73,683,608

easy, then you factor in Fred's 20 million paycut this season and the fact that Collin is expiring. You still can spend $15M on the MLE before you get to Fred's salary.

    Easy.

    Fred/Reed
    Amen/Collin
    KD
    Jabari/ Tari
    Sengun/Adams

You're dwindling down the drafted 7 (could never pay them all) to 5 and then you basically can keep them all if Tari/Jabari/Reed are averaging around $25M each for their initial extensions(Reed would kick in after KD's extension expires) (also assuming Amen is a $45M max which wouldn't kick in until KD's final year assuming a 2 year extension)

I wouldn't trade him with his high upside and rookie contract. This may be a relationship issue, but I would work it out and see what we have if he is doing the right thing.

Don't give him away imo. Work things out

Allow me a slight detour on Toumani and Blazers. At the start of last season, there were rumblings that Chauncy (like Willie Green) was in the hot seat. POR been tanking for a while, with Scoot's slow growth at the time, plus Sharp's injury + meh growth, fan base was turning on Billups even though their Front Office was still high on Chauncy.

I've been keep an eye on the Blazers coaching situation, their blueprint has been to follow the Rocket's: tank for high draftees, then 50/50% with vets. Start of last year, was asking myself: "is history playing out where Chauncy is their Stephan Silas"

Then Toumani had his great season and Blazers went on an impressive win streak. Deserved or not, it showed that Billups could develop one of their young players properly. Blazers even gave Chauncy a multi-year extension in April.

TLDR: Toumani indierctly, partially,.... kinda saved Chauncy's job.

POR (fanbase & head coach), are very much appreciative what Toumani is over there. There are extra costs when outside teams go after these type of beloved players.

This almost sounds like the Rox feel like they have a gap at SF instead of playing Durant there with Bari at the 4. If it’s a defense concern of Durant chasing SFs just let Bari handle that.

I’d much rather trade for a true SG and keep Amen at the 3 and Bari to the bench.

Sexton, Garland, LaVine, Coby White, Murphy, etc.

this is "evan sidery" adding his opinion to his aggregation and pretending he knows anything

he also said jock was waived and no one else said that.

this guy is basically ai (and not iverson, the robot kind).

Not enough D for D-Lover Udoka

“I was a little caught off guard by that as well because we have had in depth conversations with Cam probably more than anybody.

“I’m pretty clear with what’s going to get you on the court, and what’s going to sustain a role, so I’ll leave it at that as far as that, but I’ve been very clear with what’s needed.

“Opportunities are there and not always taken advantage of, or other guys step up and play a little better, and we look for that consistency there.”

“There’s a ton of potential there but consistency is the main thing, and he knows that.”

For him, for his career, probably best for him to move on, get to play, get at least one more contract.

    “There’s a reason he dropped to 20!”

First at the time it was his medicals. Then conveniently last year it was “he’s a cancer malcontent! Reason he dropped!”

“Sources tell John Hollinger of The Athletic that Whitmore's medicals were red-flagged by some teams due to concerns about his knees.”

Sixth man: Tyler Herro, Jordan Clarkson, Lou Williams(3x), Jamal Crawford(3x), J.R. Smith, Jason Terry, Leandro Barbosa, Ben Gordon…defense?! Just go get us buckets off the bench!

If he’s a locker room malcontent cancer chucker who sucks with knee concerns, Rockets will be lucky to get a second rd pick.

Meanwhile, the one guy they did sign from the draft (so far) is another guy who can’t shoot for **** but he can play defense! (SEC All-Defensive)

Nobody is using a draft pick on a fifth-year senior forward who averaged 9.6 points and shot 24.0 percent from 3. But watch out for this guy stealing minutes while on a two-way because of his defense against apex wings. There are some Luguentz Dort parallels here: Matthews has brutish strength, lightning fast hands and can move his feet on the perimeter. He also fouls a lot, but his rate of 7.6 “stocks” (steals + blocks) per 100 possessions is pretty phenomenal.

Matthews also showed good feel as a distributor, averaging 7.1 dimes per 100 possessions despite being a very secondary offensive player. About that last part … Matthews shot 20.0 percent from 3 and 55.4 percent from the line for his career. All at once now: Yikes. Teams will likely need to stash him in the dunker spot to give him an offensive role; he did shoot 60.0 percent on 2s as a collegian. If he develops his 3-point shot into a one-in-three proposition, he’s an instant rotation player, but the odds don’t favor it. — John Hollinger

Defense, defense, defense, more ****ing defense!

Been telling y'all he's gone. I hope we get a good bench piece in whatever trade he goes out in. Should be doable--he has talent, there should be some rebuilding team that has interest.

As much as I'd like to keep Cam and actually play him. Kelly Iko is a direct mouthpiece for the Rockets.

Looks like they are shopping him and the Rockets want that to be well known.

Since Cam would likely be a key piece of a trade for another star player either this offseason or at the trade deadline, I have my doubts about the legitimacy of this story…….unless that trade for another star is going down now
